Predators - Royce Costume

Alright... here is the progress... I have weathered the shirt three times now and still not happy with the results. I am VERy happy with the weathering on the vest. Want to do a few final touch-ups to the vest and I will call it good. The shirt is another story.. going to weather it yet again.

I hope my gear ends up that great!!!:love
Is that the TAN Shemagh? The color looks so different.
I´m surprised by the "CONDOR" buckle engraving ... :confused You can find replacement buckles kits on ebay.
I´m waiting to see the holster!!!

That is the lightweight shemagh... which is a much lighter color than the heavy weight shemagh..

I am NOT happy about the engraved buckle... I am assuming that is something Condor recently decided to change....

Alright... I am getting closer to happy with the shirt... It is absolutely nasty. I feel like it is a little spottier than I would like, but at least it is showing up now when photographing the costume. I'll probably pick up the holster next... then the Jack Crain knife.

looks really good. but yeah that condor logo really jumped out at me. how would the plastic take to being sanded?

When I thought I was going to recieve the newer model buckle, I found a lot of vendors on ebay that sold repair kits with the correct coyote buckle. I´m really surprised by that engraving.

You could always cover it with some modeling putty and then repaint the whole thing or simply buy a replacement though that might involve some heavy duty sewing.

Not sewing neede since the buckle is attached via velcro. The replacement is the best option!
You cannot flip the buckle since it has a slight curve backwards.

Do we have screencaps of the Steel Eagle? I am still uncertain if it is a 107e or 107c. Any info on this would be great! I have seen both mentioned but would like a definitive answer on this if possible.

Nevermind...its the 107c sorry for the stupid post

It is absolutely the TOPS Steel Eagle 107C. For those who don't know, the difference between the 107C and the 107E is that the 107C has a heavily serrated back while the 107E has a smooth back. When the team sits down to rest, Royce pulls out the Steel Eagle and impales a scorpion with it (one of many homages to the original Predator movie). While the knife is almost always in motion and screencaps of it aren't great, you can see the serrations clearly. Check my previous post which includes a screencap of the knife.

I can't help but laugh wondering how many knives they have sold because of this movie.

Also, for anyone else who ends up with a Condor belt with the engraved buckle, here is a relatively cheap replacement solution.

USGI New Desert MOLLE II Buckle Repair Kit ITW NEXUS - eBay (item 200568745426 end time Feb-23-11 00:08:52 PST)

Go ahead with that kit, as it seems to be very close, if not exact, to the original buckle

By the way, this is how I attached the pouches, as I believe that´s the way they did it in the last picture:

Excellent! I will change mine up to match that! That looks a lot better.

One problem I have is that shotgun shell pouch snaps go over a part of the belt that doubles up and the snaps don't want to stay snapped. The snaps seem to be of ulta-low quality and don't stay snapped easily... at least not mine.

I didn´t have any problem with the pouch, but the only stress it suffered was beig mailed from the US.

In other subject, the shell pad seems to be attached by a pair of Malice clips.

Unless I am seeing it wrong, I am going to have to disagree with you on that one. I use malice clips on a number of personal gear and they tend to hold a pouch or piece relatively tight to the vest, pack, or whatever. With Royce shell panels, it appears they are held only at the top and bottom, with nothing pulling them in to the vest in the middle. Using a malice clip properly would hold the middle in to the vest as well, especially since the shell panel has a cross web in the middle.

I believe the shell panels are attached very poorly with something like zip ties. That is certainly not idea and malice clips would do an infinitely better job, but I just don't feel like that is what is being used when I look at the screencaps. I could, of course, be wrong.

I don´t want to contradict you, Art, as I think you are right. What I believe is that they used one short malice on the top and one on the bottom. But, as yuo´ve used that kind of clip before, and I haven´t, i will follow your advice.
