Pottermore

Thank you. Came into this thread thinking it might be something Rowling related, but saw no explanation til now. Appreciated.

You're welcome :)

i got to register yesterday, i stayed up until 1 in the
morning. i got the answer right but for some reason internet explorer
kept taking me back to the pg with the clue, lucky i got the idea to
use url on chrome

I stayed up until 5:20am last night but end up giving up. But my friend registered me :)

Don't know when mine will be, yesterday I went to the site too late. Its 10:41am here and on the site it still says that the first day is closed. So I'll continue checking regularly, hopefully I'll manage. I live in Malta btw.

Good luck ;)

Do they change the time each day or is the question ask at the same time every day???

I heard people saying the time changed each day but for 2 days in a row, my friend got in at around 10/11am (Portugal/UK time) and managed to get herself and me registered, so... :)

I think a lot of people made it in last night. I was on watch for 1, 3 and 5 AM and my buddy had the 2, 4, 6 AM checks. I got a call a little after 4 AM that registration was open and buddy was in. Maybe I can get some sleep tonight, sure didn't last night!

@Aj23: The time is randomly selected supposedly. Day 1, it was at 5 AM here CDT, would have been 6 AM for you. Day 2 was at 4 AM CDT. Both late morning/midday in UK/Europe, but I think the promotion said that times would vary so different parts of the world would have an opening during 'their' daytime hours??

@nickytea: I think it would have been another madhouse had they let people choose a user name. I saw a lot of cute ones on Twitter and those posted here as well. Did you get something you did not like?

Congrats to all who got in. Hope all who want in manage to make it in. Anyone else watch that wild ride on the bay last night with that one auction for an account that went up to $99,999,999.00!!!!!!!! CRAZY!!!

Yeah, I know how you feel. If it wasn't for my friend I would still be in the same situation.
Good luck ;) *fingers crossed*

What is Pottermore exactly that is getting people so excited? Isn't it just an overhyped message board and a couple glorified cellphone apps put online that people are going to get sick of after 10 minutes?

that was very nice of ur friend, i wish i had
someone that would of stayed uped for me

They are selling the registrations on ebay for around 100 dollars.

I saw that! I saw one for 800 dollars and I even heard there was one for like 10 million. Who would pay that much for it? its so much easier to stay up late and register :lol

No. Its because us huge fans want to learn more about certain characters and be sorted "officially". Thats the only place we can do it. Jo created the sorting method so its the most accurate as opposed to stupid regular sorting quizzes. and you get a wand. Its like the encyclopedia we have been (and still are) hoping for.

Lia, the time did change but only by an hour. Yesterday it was 9 am UK time (4 am my time) and today it was 10 am UK time (5 am my time) I was able to get in at 6 :)

So its like a Harry Potter wiki with a message board?

And what makes this sorting method of any better quality than all of the other online quizzes out there?

No, this is only new stuff straight from J.K. Rowling. and what makes it better is that it was planned out by Jo herself. Everything is straight from her.

So is that for sure what its going to be? Basically stuff from her journal of wizard lore for the books? Or just a place to sell the online / kindle book versions and occasional snippets?

It would be awesome if its more than a commercial venture.

Well, maybe you'll have better luck tonight!
And get more sleep than we did last night!!
They have listed a TIME frame on the official blog page:
Can you give me a hint as to when the next Pottermore clue will be released?
We know that many of you waited through the night for the first two clues to be posted on Pottermore.com. Although we can't tell you exactly when the clues will be released - they will all be posted at different times - we can tell you that tomorrow's clue (Clue 3) will be posted some time between 9.00am and 1.00pm BST.
Pottermore Insider

That will be 2 PM to 6 PM Eastern Standard Times in the USA.

Do you know what happens to a property when the original author takes the reins of their own project after being led by other for years. (The Prequels)

Disaster that's what. Most of the time. Good Luck with that.

...as if the last four movies weren't bad enough.

There are 18,000 new words by Jo going to be made available, not a new book but more the background to the stories and more insight from the world she created. I'm not so bothered about being sorted and having a virtual wand, that's fun and all, but I want more lore and if she's offering it in an easy to use and interactive way then I'm all for it.

"From Professor McGonagall's love for a Muggle as a young woman, to how the Dursleys met; from new information about Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff houses, to details about wand wood,"..."the fresh Potter background from the author already stretches to 18,000 words, with more to come."

I am a HUGE Potter fan and I just can't bring myself to give a damn enough to jump through hoops for this. I'll just wait til its open to everyone later.

Mike, buddy, my man ... I don't understand any of what you just posted. Did you post this in the wrong thread? "Led by others for years?" What? Rowling? And the movies ... what have they got to do with this? Or she to do with them?

I'm just going to stop thinking about this for a second.

What are you talking about? the last 4 movies weren't that bad. HBP could've been better I admit. But a Harry Potter prequel (not the short story she wrote) would be fantastic and it wouldn't be a disaster. and its just new stuff adding on to what we know. its not a new story. and no one led her, she wrote it all, she created the world and everything. Its hers and no one elses and she has every right to do what she wants.

I can see where taking a jab at the prequels could have caused confusion there.

A LOT of movie stars (or celebrities) once they become ultra rich and famous decide it's in their best interested to decide for themselves what to do next.

Usually ends in disaster. Hence the prequel jab.

But Rowling should just write another book or don't.

To trickle out little backstories and that is just nonsense. Do it or don't.

I've read all the books and seen all the movies, she's done.

Be rich, move on.
