Pew pew!

I've just finished the SMG from Elysium:

Which, when turned from Mr CAD to Mr Reality, looks sooooomething like this:

I particularly like the sticker on the rear handle:

This was a three month (on and off project) after I foolishly asked for ideas here :)
It's printed on a MK4S. Sanded for about six thousand years down to 600 (cos I have ... issues), primed, painted, etc. I did all the stickers myself (first time! got myself a cutter - wheeee).

Absolutely brilliant work. Ready for retakes or extended cut for sure. But you even brought that bad boy from screen to table afterward and that is a whole separate skillset altogether. Kudos all round.

And I must thank you sir for your invaluable help with stickers & process. I think you've already forgotten 3 x what I actually know :)

I’ve been 3d printing and designing my own parts for a long time now and only just today did I stumble onto thread. Most my stuff has been focused on SW and EMPIRE mostly. Here is my MJF blaster builds…

Since ‘23 though everything’s been exclusive to FDM printing via my P1S..

EIDT: the IJ prop is actually a resin print as it was apart of a run Astyanax did. But the CAD work is still mine. I’ll post my original build once I find it.

That last one is pewpewpew but in a very small font....

Here’s the original antidote vial that I created. Or one of them anyways. We tested a few different sizes. I say we because cjunco1937 reached out to ask if I’d be interested in making one as he really wanted an accurate replica to display. He sourced all the stones and the vials themselves. I did the CAD work, painting and finishing. These lids are actually printed in MJF not FDM. Even the sealer inside is a MJF print. Works perfectly. Love that technology.. to bad it’s so bloody expensive..

Before I finally took the plunge into the FDM world I only printed pretty much in MJF. My first full printed blasters were brought to life that way. Digging up that vial photo I found some old before and after pics of my MJF blasters.

MJF.. Never do u have to worry about layer lines and never do u have to be concerned with supports. Amazing! The prints were obviously outsourced but the CAD, assembly and painting was all my handy work..

Coincidentally Carlos owns these as well. Hope you still like them my man!

Love them. And love MJF. Yeah you can get a crisper more detailed print with FDM (though no detail lost on any of those dl44s), but i love the durability of the MJF prints. Perfect for cons.

Some new files I created and brought to life via my BL printers.

Added some weight to the saber as well as the medal of yavin. Saber weighs about a pound now which may not sound like much but she’s definitely got it where it counts ;)View attachment 1921058
Question on your saber. How did you get the turned metal look? are the print layers going vertical in this picture? Or did you add the texture after? It has the perfect sheen of real lathed metal, very impressive outcome for a printed item.

Thank you but honestly it’s the silk filament that ur looking at. It does a really nice job in replicating that metal look. It is printed vertical as well for what it’s worth but again it’s the Silk PLA that’s getting ur attention I believe.

I do think the design also has something to do with recreating the “look” of something machined as well because of how it was created in CAD..

Ya if it is printed as though stabbed into the bed, the print lines would add to the lathe look. Very cool.

New 3D print offering of a classic Cylon Raider from the original Battlestar Galactica series:

The recent blaster looks flatter on the sides than my mis-memory:

I also would have sworn The Cage hand unit was rounder:
