Please help with hoverboard parts

Here is a CAD drawing of the parts I have so far, dont mind the colors, I cant 3D print in color anyway. Just representative.

looking great so far! do you have pics of the parts with a hoverboard for comparison? as it's not easy to tell if the dimensions are right on their own

I know this isn't a 100% far comparison as the angles are different, but it seems like the top disc should be slightly smaller. Maybe go back to 4.72 (cd size) to adjust for the camera height? That is why I was hesitant about taking the measurements on different planes using the same scaling.

I think that might do the trick. Also, you might want to make the inner circle of the bottom disk (the base of the 'cone') a hair smaller as well to adjust for the camera height.

The height is anyones guess so we may have to play around with it to get the right look, but the height you have it at right now looks about right.

UPDATE: For those of you that are following, sorry I have been real busy with work and have not had a chance to work on my hobby.

I updated the magnet and hold down but have not printed this version just yet until I get peoples "approval" per say. Im tired of wasting 3d plastic! The drawings dont take me that long to do really, the more feedback I get the better I can draw this. I am on my 5th version of the magnet/ holddown. I printed 3 different versions so far and it uses alot of plastic for the magnets.
Here is the top view of my newest version.
I made the top of the magnet smaller (4.725" without fillets, then 4.7" with a small fillet), and the base of the magnet is 6.45" still.
If anyone has any questions/ suggestions/ comments/ concerns/ etc... PLEASE let me know!

looks good, although i think the top of the magnet it a bit too small, i've just made a quick side by side with a prop, and you can see the silver top part of the magnet is slightly bigger

Can you provide some more angles of the disk? I think it is really starting to come together.

Getting close... I think expanding the top magnet a hair and shrinking the middle rim slightly will do the trick.

Another update. This time I took screen captures with both orthographic AND perspective views in the CAD program. Make sure to realize that this is the same part! Just used a different "camera" angle in the program. They are labeled as such. Hopefully I am moving in the right direction!

The major change that I made was the flat part of the magnet is much longer till it hits the ramp going up.

Wow... the orthographic looks really short and the perspective looks really tall! Strange... I am guessing what it looks like in real life is somewhere in the middle of the two images; In that case it will look fantastic. The top view looks PERFECT.

I think we are good to go with the magnets, brackets, and battery.

Now it is time to work on the top brackets. :)

What is the top green foot assembly made of? If you want I can 3d print one of those for you also when I am working on the other parts. Let me know. Your setup looks very nice. I plan on welding together some Mattel handle bars for myself as well.

Should I print this set of magnets and hold downs now?

It's made out of foam... I am okay with it being made out of foam because that's how it is in the movie (so no need to print it).

Looks good enough to print to my eye but maybe you should make the top hold downs first? It's up to you... don't want you to waste plastic.

Can you print the final on white plastic or will it always be green?

Right now I have red in the printer.
I will most likely be doing white as the final print color as I find it is easiest to skim in bondo, prime and paint. There is not THAT much prep work that needs to be done to finish the parts.
The prints are very expensive @ about $6 per cubic inch. One hollow (honeycomb inside for max support) magnet disc is about 5.5cubic inches. I think it comes so much cleaner then any resin version that I have seen.

So it probably costs about $120 approx in total to make a full assembly...

Yes, white would be good. How long does it take to coat in bond and prime it?

Can't wait to see the top hold downs.

$120 is a good estimate for cost of MATERIALS! possibly more depending on how many trays are used.

I am printing out a magnet and hold down now. Expect pics tomorrow!
