Please help with hoverboard parts

Looking great! Very exciting...

In my opinion, I think the first outer hold down you made looks much more accurate. It's actually surprisingly bigger than you would think, like in this pic:

I love the way the measuring tape matches up perfectly to the picture! Every space hits its respective accurate inch marker! :D

Grant, i saw what you said about double checking. (Before you deleted it) I am not at a computer right now but i think the camera angle might have been throwing you off a bit... I can always double check later though.
Thanks razorsharp, if you happen to notice any improvements that can be made, let me know!

Yeah, I deleted it because I saw your comparison picture with the measuring tape and it was dead on, inch for inch. Great work!!

Thanks, I am working on the outer hold down some more. I cant decide how it should look. Are the radius of the two circles the same as the inner? Is that first step the same distance? Where should it be bigger? My first attempt was sloppy so I dont want to base it off of that.

I THINK my outer hold down is very close to accurate. Even the screen capture you posted shows that the outer hold down uses the same dimensions as the inner hold down. So, if we agree that the inner hold down is correct then the outer is damn close.
I will change it if people disagree.

I don't remember if it has been mentioned or not (5 pages is a bit to remember :p ) but are all these dimensions going to collected in one handy dandy set of blueprints? Also on a related note, it looks great so far

So far? Lol what else should I change? Honestly I am open to suggestions.

I wasnt planning on compiling my dimensions, but i will make a drawing and dimension it if people want. It is really not dimensions of screen used parts so I would hate to have it confused with them.

Upon looking, the new hold down does look good. The only thing I can see now is it looks like the width of the hold down (that part that directly touches the battery) need to be increased.

I can see some parts in composite above that look slightly off, but don't consider those because I only tried to get an approximation of size and position for the overlay. You won't get it to match perfectly unless the camera angles and focal lengths are exactly same.

So the only major flaw that this image should reveal is the height of the hold down that touches the battery. Everything else looks spot on.

Could you possible get a camera angle from directly above using the batter as your 'center' like the reference photo?

Grant, i will do that tomorrow. The i have a feeling that you think the hold down part that touches the battery is not wide enough because of the camera angle again, check out different views, mine is pretty wide. Also keep in mind the one you are comparing it to is vacuum formed plastic. Its gunna be a few weeks till my vacuformer is working... But i am excited about that step of this process.
Again, not saying mine is perfect, but the camera angles are getting really frustrating. I will take pics tomorrow. And compare.

Just know that I am nit-picking at this point... your first versions looked great and what you have now looks amazing. :D I know you are going for 99%-100% accuracy.

Yeah, the vacu-form amount is a really tricky thing to judge. I think it would only be an adjustment of 1/16 to 1/8 wider on each side (1/8 - 1/4 total increase). I think it looks a bit thinner because you made the battery box bigger.

Grant

Dont get me wrong, nit picking is what i need for the accuracy level i am attempting to achieve. I think 95% is possible with the references I have, anything higher then that and I would need screen used measurements. Again, i wish i had mattels opportunity to use bob gales board!

An interesting look at the rare 'resin' parts... These were only released recently. Too bad the images are low quality!

One new note:

You mentioned you were going to vacu-form them, so maybe these images will help judging the difference in thickness. You might want to go slightly tighter on the hold down bevel curves (the part that conforms to the magnets) if you are planning on vacu-forming. It's up to you, though. Or you can keep them as you have it now and go for a half vacu-formed/half resin look.

However, I think these images prove that you are correct on the width of the part that touches the battery. ;)

Also, I know the camera angles aren't perfect, but take a look at this. I feel like this part is shorter for some reason and I can't figure out why (you seem to be correct about it being the same size as the other one). For some reason though, I feel like it's a bit too small in the all the resin picture comparisons.

Just my 2 cents... maybe it's a camera thing? What do you think of the comparison?

Again, could be a camera angle thing, but I am using independent reference points on each image (the length of the 'conformed part of the hold down'),
