Howdy all, haven't been on here for a while since we published our Dredd 2012 models and code for everyone to make ( Dredd 2012 Electronics 3D Model and Build ). It's the same crew on this new project with Paul doing the electronics, Craig with the code, and me doing the designs and mechanisms. We have a new addition in Toy Traders Mike on paint, who does all the incredible builds and displays for the store of the same name, which is the world's best toy store, just google Kevin Smith's walkthrough of the store if you wanna have your mind blown..

We sorta went down a rabbit hole after on what would be the coolest thing we could do with electronic prop design and came up with Blamcon, which is a firmware/hardware/software solution to make pretty much anything a into an arcade light gun. As before, all the models, code, and firmware are completely free to the community. Been a little hesitant to post it here but I think it's an RPF worthy project. Here is the Dredd Lawgiver with it's light gun mod, it's just 3 parts from a light gun to an interactive prop, completely non-destructive:

I also dusted off my 90's announcer voice and did a commercial for it:

Here's some of the prop guns I've done so far on my display wall, some are classics, some are my original designs:

I'm still not sure this is RPF worthy content so if it's not let me know, if it is I'll keep posting about it. I just finished Peter Mayhew's Bowcaster and Hicks' Ithica 37 shotgun from Aliens (draft version on the wall at the bottom right), it has a light gun mod and an on canon version.

I will be posting the 3D print models for free for both the light gun versions and 3D print display or electronic versions along with tutorials on how to build and paint. You can see tutorials in the channel above with the commercial, I just released the Auto 9 light gun and I'm working on a cosplay version with working sounds and recoil, there's vids of that too.

I also take requests :)

Yes, are these only PC compatible? Do they need calibrated? Do they stay calibrated, or calibrate frequently?

Will these work with Ps4 games?
If they're emulated on PC, but I think the PS4 used the move so it wasn't straight up a light gun compatible system. The Blamcon firmware emulates a mouse using an IR positional camera to find it's location in 3D space, so it needs to be connected to something that will recognize it. So for now it's mostly PC/Mac/Linux with emulation being your best bet for PS4.

PC/Mac/Linux. They sorta do, they're usually pretty good straight off since most TVs are 16:9 and the IR bars give it good framing right away. There's 2 levels of calibration to let you dial it in to pixel accurate. I'm a lifetime enjoyer of the percussive arts and being able to sight in is very important. So I spent a long time on sights, trigger pull, etc to give it good performance and Craig added multiple layers of calibration. There's a free utility on called "Blamcon ARC" and we made a free game "Blamcon Shooting Gallery" to test with, both free on Steam. You can also calibrate directly on the light gun even in-game. There's 4 player IDs that store 4 profiles each so you can store your 16:9 and 4:3, with and without optic, etc. They're stored on the EEPROM so they're persistent once calibrated. It's a hard coded value so there's no straying or floating over time of your 0.

here's a quick short of the tracking in action, I don't have a lot of vids done yet just because we've just finished 1.0 and haven't really had time to film much:
