Pirates of the Caribbean reboot?

I am waiting for the reboot fad to die off. I enjoyed reboots of Batman, James Bond etc. as an alternative trying to continue the same story lines already established. Giving established characters a fresh story and path to follow. However, we ended up with reboots of characters each time they change actors now.

This is a story and character that needs to sit on the shelf for a while. I would rather see Disney develop that Haunted Mansion movie that we heard about years ago.

You're going to be waiting a long time because Hollywood has been remaking/rebooting movies for a long time, pretty much since the beginning of movies. I wouldn't be surprised if many of the first silent movies were adaptations of popular plays of the time. When sound came out some silent movies were remade with sound and when color came out Hollywood was busy remaking b&w movies in color.

You mean the one with Eddie Murphy? That’s been out for a decade and a half now...

...Pull away from the supernatural...

Was it Gibbs who wanted to get back to some old-fashioned, honest-to-goodness pirating...?
I've been saying this since Dead Man's Chest, a.k.a. the second movie. I understood why they included the "living skeletons" in The Curse of the Black Pearl, but they painted themselves into a corner by doing so, the fans came to expect some form of supernatural element in the sequels, and it got ridiculously out-of-hand. If they're going to reboot the franchise now would be a good time to go back to telling a straight pirate adventure story without all of that nonsense.

Pirates is in my top 5 Disneyland rides and I enjoyed all the movies that it inspired. I for one would be happy to see another film with Jack Sparrow in it. A reboot wouldn't be the same, but I would like to see Jack passing off the torch to another pirate though.

A younger pirate who happens to be Jack's son, who he never knew he had.
