Picard S2

How is it that the baddies' phasers are set to "poke a hole in you" when THEY use them, but are set at "disintegrate" when WE use them?
Q upped the Anti to give them a chance..maybe ?
Or they just changed the settings..
If they are in alternate bodies then there surely isn't any real threat to them, unless their consciousness disentangle return then they are feckd!..
I'm still enjoying it and the borg queen is the best iteration we have seen so far.. I loved Alice K but she was always pretty monotone..

I don't know if it's been mentioned yet (I read the last few pages of posts) , but the time chosen of 2024 is significant, not just that it's close to our "real world" time period. 2024 was the year Sisko & the DS9 crew were once thrown back in time to, where he assumed the identity of Gabriel Bell to make sure the "Bell Riots" in San Fransico still took place, all of which was depicted in the "Past Tense" 2 part episode.
It appears that they've held the trek time-line for this period intact, which has some sad parallels to our own world right now.

So Picard series 2 is going to be a retread of the DS9 two parter?

Well, DS9 did a "retread" of TOS's "Trouble With Tribbles," TNG did a retread of "The Naked Time," so it's hardly unprecedented (there's probably more, but those are two I could think of off the top of my head). I think they were attracted to the societal issues presented in that DS9 episode, issues which have actually come to pass in real life, so it makes a good point for revisiting.

would be cool if the watcher was Sisko but I'm guessing it is a Vulcan

I'm not too thrilled with this series. I really like Patrick Stewart but he's definitely not playing it as Picard. I understand people change over time but his tone etc is off. He just plays it as Patrick Stewart. Picard is still my favorite captain and some of my favorite episodes like Starship Mine, Gambit, and Chain of Command had him playing the character different based on the situation. I'm glad we are getting new Trek but none of the groundwork that was done in the other series applies as far as how people acted in the future. I understand making the show more modern but to just throw that stuff away seems odd.

There's a theory propagating on Twitter that the Watcher is Mestral, the Vulcan from the Enterprise episode "Carbon Creek". Although I'm not sure if the writers have done enough research to even know who Mestral is.

I have a theory regarding who I think “The Watcher” will be…

This is just a fun show for me... I really only watched Next Generation in my teens, every afternoon at 4 in syndication.... was never HARDCORE Trek... So this doesn't hurt my head as much as it does others. I have no previous invested love.

So while I recognize Picard isn't acting like Picard, and the show is absolutely ridiculous, I still have fun watching it, then watching Trek fans like RLM roast it = All fun.

Normally I'm against youtube channels complaining about content or IP's, but RLM is different. Probably cuz they love Shlock.

So it's a double win...

I just don't think Picard is meant to be comedy.....

I was going to try to head this off at the pass. I think it's premature to assume ignoring Times Arrow was a mistake.
