Question: did I miss it, or did they never address the fact that Reneé Picard shares her name with René Picard, Jean-Luc's nephew that died in a fire alongside JL's brother? If they did, you'd think it would mean more to JL, with all the other physiological issues that they've been showing him dealing with. After all, it was the central issue for Picard in the plot of ST: Generations. The loss of his nephew hit him very hard, as evidenced in his words from that movie:
Come to think of it, where the F is JL's brother Robert in all these new memories of his childhood? They're essentially making JL out to be an only child.
I can't believe that, with all this new psychological trauma that's been brought to light, Picard's issues with the loss of family and the end of his family line aren't mentioned, especially when dealing directly with his ancestor that shares the name of his dead nephew.
And it turns out the death of Picard's nephew and brother was another of Stewart's direct influences on a Trek story. He pushed for their off-screen deaths in ST: Generations:
Patrick Stewart wanted the Picards to die a horrible death.

EDIT: I just realized autocorrect changed "psychological" to "physiological." Corrected.
