Phaser 2 with a gold handle

There's a new 40th Anniversary Phaser 2 out that has a gold handle on it. I've been wracking my brain and trying to recall if/when there was an episode of TOS where this version showed up. I thought I recalled one episode maybe that showed something like this. Or maybe it was more just for an anniversary prop release. Anyone have any memories of a version like this? Karl - any caps? ;)

Here's a pic of the AA replica:

Well, I'm no Karl but I can say this was NEVER used in a TOS episode or any Trek episode. The Gold handle is another way AA tried to make money off of the same phaser by painting it some special color for the 40th Anniversary.

Much like the black and white TOS Phaser they released, same phaser, just painted differently. It isn't correctly at all other than the basic phaser shape. lol

Yeah jhusel that was my first thought too. And I have seen the original three seasons of Trek so many times I have the dialogue memorized. But something in the back of my head keeps nagging me about one that might of been kind of close to this color maybe briefly seen. Again, I'm probably just thinking of variations in painting and lighting seen for the typical bronze/gray handle version.

That's just AA's weak attempt at providing an "accurate" Rustoleum Bronze color. It's always frustrating to see an honest attempt to do it right get screwed up so it's worse than before.

That's really funny... :lol

But good news...it just means we can still get a few of these to modify and paint correctly ;)

Im surprised Karl hasnt chimed in with this one yet...

Its clearly Art Asylum and their dedication to total accuracy...that phaser is featured in a rarely mentioned deleated scene where spock and scotty discuss the newly proposed color schemes:

Apparently I'm no Karl either. :lol

Well I looked thru every frame of every episode and I couldn't find any gold-handled phasers. So I guess Caveat Emptor. :p

Hey Nick, I see you restored Scotty's missing finger. :thumbsup

I cannot believe no one has mentioned the Franklin Mint yet... :lol RAD1701, this was simply a cheap way out for AA/DST to rush something on the market for the 40th Anniversary, this version is no different than the first release, or the B/W release with the exception of 3 cents worth of crappy copper paint.

This was what they were shooting for:

But they fell a bit short... :)
