Pepsi is making Pepsi Perfect? BTTF

If I had a 2nd bottle, I would mix this 'epoxy' (AKA liquid glass) I can get locally and add a tint, partially fill and do it as a slush cast. All 2 part resins are exothermic, and given the heat they give off, you would not want to fill the bottle like these with that because of the risk of plastic warp. Bit this stuff stays cold, even after degassing. And it sets hard. For a display piece, this would be "Perfect".

I would be concerned that it would warp the bottle once it cures.

Hey, so did we ever decide if we should empty the bottles for storage or if it's okay in the bottle and container indefinitely?

I plan to empty mine when the sugar separates, then add new cola or water with black die or something

Had another play with this stuff today and, yeah it gets hot right at the point it goes into gel state. So, no, probably not a good idea given how fragile these bottles seems to be.

What about paint? Mix up some paint that's the right colour and roll it round the inside, similar to a slush cast but without the heat. Might need to do it a couple of times to get the look though.

Cola is somewhat transparent, paint is not. I guess distilled water with food coloring in it is your best option there. I have some vails in a JP Cryocan with bright yellow/green fluid made the same way. It's been sitting on my shelf for years and I checked the vails (put one upside down) and the liquid did not leave any traces on the vail. Offcourse these vails might be somwhat better quaylity plastic than the bottles, but still...

I was thinking of transparent glass paint, which is used in arts and crafts for making stained glass windows. There are various shades of brown so you could go as dark or transparent as you like. Add it to the bottle like a slush cast as already mentioned and once completely dry these paints are water proof so you could even fill the bottle with plain water to improve the effect and add weight to the bottle for more realism.

I wonder if we can just dye them like Gary did to a few of his bottles?

Actually, that 'stained glass' paint sounds like a good idea to me: Mix up a warm, reddish brown and apply to the interior of the bottle.

It would be the same with resin. And a paint can be thinned slightly, with more or less coats being applied until you get the translucency required.

All the resins I use are clear and you add pigment to them. I have a translucent black in my stash. he polyurethane I use for my clear soles does not heat up any where like this expoy does. So it would work.

Why not go this route? Buy this candle or the gel, melt it, the pour it into the bottle and it will look just like cola.

hey movie freak, i followed the tutorial you linked before, and i watched a few videos on youtube just now. it looks like when it comes time to pour the wax its at 190-200 degrees. i see how these are all being poured into glass bottles... I'm wondering if the plastic can handle 200degrees without damaging it.

i am going to try this in couple weeks with a random plastic pepsi bottle, to try and get the right amount of brown dye to look right, and see if the 200degrees is too much for the plastic. either way, I'm now on a mission to find a double dot pepsi bottle to do this trick with and put beside my 2015 bottle! thanks for sharing!

It should work. I have melted wax before and have poured to into 2 litter plastic soda bottles and it didn't cause issues. But I am not sure how thin those bottle you have are so it would be best to test before damaging one ;)
