Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Thanks for the kind words! Picking this 20” DX frame this weekend…my little guy wants his own Pee Wee bike..let the small scale insanity begin!

Just for refrence: Of the currently known original bikes these are the only ones I’ve been able to screen match.

Hollywood museum = Nun scene bike
Gusset bike=Wheelie rig bike
Bicycle museum= Oil Slick bike
Tarzan bike=Tarzan swing /roof jump bike

Now that the auction is over I can talk about this project. I was asked to get the original screen matched stunt bike from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure ready for auction. They didn’t have enough unique parts for each bike during filming so parts were switched between bikes, leaving quite a few of the original bikes missing parts once filming was done. I was able to replace the missing parts with exact lineage replicas and generally freshen the Bike up to its screen appearance. It was really cool to get to work on this very unique piece of movie history. This is the only stunt Bike made for the movie. Here’s a few pictures of it when I got it and then after before, I delivered it to the auction and one with my replica.

Your wish is my command... I have started down the road of 3D printing saddlebags. I actually had one of the saddlebags made by Ruddigger 3D scanned. I can simply mirror the saddlebag in software and get the other side. Since the top console has simpler geometry, I will be modeling it directly. Still checking on the most cost effective way to print. Until now I have been having someone else print the tiger sirens, but since the bags are so large, it will take approximately 4 days to print each bag. Print time really impacts cost to have someone else do it. So, it looks like I may be buying a 3D printer. I was planning to print them in ABS and then acetone vapor smooth them. I have also considered a skeletonized version which could be covered with fiberglass or something like Wonderflex.

Did you ever get the Saddle Bag stl files done?

Did you ever get the Saddle Bag stl files done?
I saw that post last year as I was going through the thread and ended up making my own. Haven't tried printing it yet but attached it here (it's a blend file not stl). The rear is open faced so you'll need to generate the missing triangles and when I tried exporting to stl just now, it cut out some parts. You may need to export as another filetype then from that filetype to stl. Hope this helps.

Here's the chain guard that I had fabricated by a local welder. I made the template with a Cricut using heavy chipboard. Unfortunately, the template for the mounting parts did not work out well. I've also noticed that the original Schwinn chain guard has very tight tolerances with the original crank, which means this is going to be a huge pain to figure out. I may end up getting the frame powder coated and then just assemble everything so I have more accurate measurements, but it also means I'll have to get the chain guard powder coated separately afterwards.

On that note, does anyone still offer casts (or I suppose accurate print files) of the siren anymore? I can't even locate an original anymore anywhere (even at the exorbitant prices)

I built a few files on thingiverse but nowhere near accuracy... like the chassis i had down but the back and head? Eh..... could look like the real deal far away...

I'm too particular. I'm also a 3d modeler by trade, but the models I have seen available all appear to have been worked up by someone who did not have a siren in-hand to work from. A little variance is OK, but if original decals won't even fit than it's way too far off. If I have to get a real one, so be it (if I can find one lol), but they don't come up and the people I have talked to about scanning one have not been willing (feels like a bit of gate-keeping, but to each his/her own)

Working on a mini 20” bike for my kid…getting closer!

Having already gone down this road, I will caution that 3D scans are not readily useable without a lot of post-processing. The model is basically a point cloud with a wrapper that has been placed around it. I modeled the siren housing due to resolution issues with 3D scanning. They often do not provide crisp prints.
