Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Thanks. Yeah, I'm a mid-century fiend. With the exception of 2 rooms (the library/toy room & the theater, which is Twin Peaks Red Room themed), my place is also full of mid-century goodness. Even extends to bikes. The next all-custom bike I'm working on is a tribute to my love of atomic era stars.

Ok....so I know that this post will seem self serving being that I'm offering tiger sirens now, but I had to share.

As much as I loved my Kansas Jack smaller siren, I am blown away at how much of a difference having the full sized siren makes on the bike. It just makes it feel complete, and as much as I loved the custom faceplate that I did for the KJ one, holy cow....having the real faceplate is just awesome.

I also picked up a new super siren for this one and installed the guts from it into the new tiger siren. It was a quick five minute mod, and with a little hot glue it works perfectly. The sound is nice and loud even though the speaker grill is covered up. All in all...well worth the investment just to have my bike a little more accurate.

Ryan
im still running the same button. I made a black plastic washer to make it taller to look like the real one.

Im Working on getting me fiberglass horn tank on the bike.

Btw we did a hollywood ride with the La Explorers club. It was fun untill part of the stopped at the Hollywood Scientology Celebrity Center. Apparently there is historical significance before becoming cult hotel. I rode the X1. I'll post some pics in a bit. Got some shots at the museum too.

Fiberglass tank sounds neat. I have a washer under the button to make it taller, I should probably make it black, like you said.

Here one the pics from the ride

Oh
shot a video while in Hollywood too

That is my wife's '36 Schwinn. She doesnt ride the Dottie bike much because she had another bike exactly like it but we sold it to build the Dottie. Not sure i ever posted that bike here.

Big day here at the old X1 Industries. I got my bags and badges back from the chrome shop.

The next step is to take the bags and have them painted to match the powder coat. The chrome will be masked off and then pinstriped. And then I'm done!!

Holy Jeezus, those look ridiculously incredible! I almost wish the bags could stay like that. They remind me of Jeff Koons' balloon art.

I know right? I'd say maybe I'd do a second set but these were expensive enough. Well worth it though.

Glad you like them!

Awesome!!! I was going to get my bags chromed too but didn't know if I wanted to paint then chrome or chrome then paint. I think that makes more sense though. Looks Great!

The chrome shop recommended to chrome them first and then paint them. It's kinda cool to see it mostly chromed too!

Chroming first is the way to go if you're not going to go the canon route and use the tape. They do look pretty cool that way.

I'll probably do a cannon set at some point. There is actually something that I like about the tape, but since I didn't rattle can the frame, I didn't see a reason to not continue going this route.

Lookin' good DB, are they clear coated to protect the shine?, and was there a reason they chromed the whole bag, seems you could have saved some dough just having the grille area done, since you have to scuff and paint most of it red and white anyway? that ought to look pretty awesome when the're done though!

When you're doing plastic chroming the technique involved isn't something that you can target. It just kind of goes all over everything. At least the way I know of.

Gotcha, I didn't know that they were plastic plated, I thought it was that spray on chrome process I've seen on youtube, that really must have been expensive!, was it a local shop by you?
