Finished the fins on the rocket ray! Gregg did a great job on having those cut. I wish the bezel didn't need to be rechromed so I could finish.

I have used Custom Chrome in long beach, good prices. They chrome and nickel plated the parts on my motorbike last year. I have used them for some schwinn stingray stuff as well and they have done great work. I will be taking my X1 parts once I'm done with mock up.

Finally....the last piece of the puzzle. The frame insert chrome stripes. These were laser cut out of .250 aluminum and then polished. Now to permanently attach them with some JB Weld.

Thanks for kind words Frank! Tomorrow the bags go off to paint.

Those strips have good flow. That's a good idea. Frank.. What did you use to attach your fins to your light? Also do we have another VW guy!? :)

I used really thin coated nails and cut them down, I drilled two 5/64 size holes in the fins. I used loctite 326 with loctite 7649 primer activator, super strong glue.

You most certainly have another VW guy on here haha. Here's my 61, my pops bought it as a project for me when I was 14, been with me for 15 years now.

We build 'em good in Germany, eh Heine?, Bitchin' Beetles Guys, But I'm gone for one day and you high jack the thread and turn it into bug talk?, Ha, Ha, just kiddin, that '61 engine doesn't look stock, must be fast?, here's my '62, wanna race?my car 911 ringo 057.jpgmy car 911 ringo 058.jpg

Adam...

I drilled a small hole into the fin and put a #2 or #4 screw into the hole, cut off the head, drilled a matching hole into the light and then screwed it down. It worked really well. Only hard part was drilling the hole perfectly centered on the fin...and to do that I used a vise on my drill press.

For my fins I used the leftover pins from pop-rivets. They're the perfect size, easy to cut to length, and they're ribbed on one end so they hold nicely with some epoxy. I drilled the holes by hand with a dremel. Gotta be steady for that, lol.

Cool... Thanks guys! So did you guys fasten them all that way or just the large fin?

I used the small screws on all of two of the delta fins and the tank fin. I like that it's removable if need be.

Anyone out there have the mudflap emblems or brass property of peewee plate for sale?

Can't find the 4" mirror to save my life lol found a 3-5/8 diameter one though, has an amber reflector that I will be swapping out.

I have been looking for a 4 inch mirror too. Not sure who is doing flaps now. I am getting a plate made now, we will see how it turns out. If it's good I can get more. Also I got a good stock tank today.
