Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

Thanks. I agree although it was a whole lot more.

He's also doing my spinners too :)

Looks mighty fine. That actually answered one of my questions, which was were there 2 stripes on the bottom tube of the tank or only 1? I thought 2, but the pics I found made me unsure. Looks like one of them gets lost in most angles on the pics. Makes me want to go that route as well, but what would I do with all the stock in the pinstripe tape I invested in if so? Haha.

Yeah, I got lucky with one of the bikes I've documented. The other thing is they all have the same general pinstripe pattern but there are differences. I kind of went with an idealized pattern I guess.

Yeah, I noticed in some of the shots the tape looks very hand-cut, but in one of the bikes in particular it looks almost like they are using reproduction Schwinn darts on the forks (ie: much more "arrow" like), & they have more tapered stripes on the top & bottom tubes of the tank. The others I've seen have kind of wonky looking tape for those stripes, not nearly as streamlined. I did notice like you said that they have generally the same patterns. I'm debating internally as well, because ideally I like the original darts, but want to stay as true to the Pee-Wee dart design as possible. I think you struck the perfect balance by doing proper pinstriping but still retaining the movie styling.

Thanks. It's hard because there are so many subtle differences and ultimately you gotta do what makes you happy.

Hey, not so fast buddy! Haha

Just got a correct rear fender to do some test fitting with. Makes a big difference already. Note to those starting off building: buy the correct parts to begin with & you won't have to tweak things as much later on. You may think you're saving $ at first, but re-buying parts you've already purchased is a drag. Ends up not saving anything when you have to buy it twice.

Well I guess the bright side is if you look like Pee-wee...sorta.....you can have the bike. Sadly no matter how much time I spend on the rack I'm never going to be 5'10. So sad....but I'll be short with a kick ass bike!

He's not a bad look alike, at least not in that picture. He should really work on that bike though.

I've made some progress on the saddlebags. I got the right side cleaned up and molded in silicone. The left side is being done now, I recast it in plaster so I can work on the master without fear of sanding through foam coat and ruining it. I'm hoping to have that one done by the end of the week, and then the top bag can be started. I'll put up some pictures soon if anyone cares.

P.S., Skillcrane, you're absolutely right. It's much better to buy the right parts the first time around, just like it's better to take the time to make your parts properly the first time too. Do it right, and take your time, it saves you time and money in the long run.

I'd love to see any pictures you are willing to share. I have to start mine soon so I'm looking for as many tips as I can get.
