Pee-Wee's Big Adventure Bike

photo-2.JPG

Installed my handle bar grips. Used hair spray to slide them on and installed my fake machine collar piece. Since I could not find a real machined collar piece, I used a 3/4 inch PVC sprinkler connector that I spray painted silver metallic. Found out the hard way that you need to spray plastic with primer. First mistake cost me .30 cents. Live and learn :)

Thanks Ryan! I will definitely do that. I wrapped some tape on the handle bar to make up for the space as well. You guys are such a big help to me. I'm useless with tools, so I'm learning. Great project and a lot of fun. Can't believe I have this bike!

I'll have some progress pictures to show tomorrow night, I have two of the four molds I need for the saddlebags completed. I need to do the left side and the uppser console lid still.

I thought about that initially but I don't know that I have it in me. Plus my wife very likely might kill me.

Ya, tell me about it. I have 8 now, and I've had to stop myself from buying others a few times. I still want a Penny Farthing though.

I think this will be my last bike for a while.... I'm up to 26 rideable bicycles and I don't want to count the ones behind the house. :) I wonder if they have bicycles anonymous!? If so see you all there! Haha!

Guys im posting this link so you dont buy it, item 400725718169 , this would be the correct box for the correct springer if the springer was correct, if you take a look at the front fork bracket, it is the same as an aftermarket pyramid or sun springer, this making it not a good buy.

"I still want a Penny Farthing though."

+1 on the Penny Farthing, I'd love to have one as well.

Guys, what gauge sheet metal did you use for the chain guard? I can't remember what I used. Is it 18 gauge? 20 gauge?

Saddlebag building update.

The top upper bag master is complete, minus the lid. The lid will have to be completely resculpted, and will probably be the last piece I make.

2 layers of silicone.

And a final coat of Ultracal

The top bag out of the mold. There was some paint transfer, but it peels right off the silicone. I'm super happy with how this one turned out.

As for the right side, that was a disappointment. I should have stuck to my original plan of making a 2 part mother mold, but I tried it as a 1 piece, and it wouldnt release the silicone. I had to break it off. Looks like I'm spending today redoing to mother mold instead of working on the left side bag. Oh well, live and learn.

It looks old too. I wouldn't be surprised if it was from the 80's.
