Paint masking removal question?

I keep bouncing back and forth on this issue so I wanted to see what others do or if there is something easy I am missing. I am a paint by brush and/or rattle can painter (short answer to why no airbrush - I live in an nice apartment and to spay paint and not upset folks I have to drive a little ways and spray in the woods - like the cavemen used to do it:rolleyes)
ANYWAY....

I tape stuff off but then always debate with myself over when to take the tape off...
Right away seems to work, but adds the element of possibly smearing the paint and just increases the still wet paint chances of some handing mishap.
Waiting for everything to dry seems to work as well but I have had the tape pull up the paint with it which sucks.

Any good masking tape removal advice?

If you're having problems with the paint coming up, you can use Bluetape for delicate surfaces, it's very low tack and leaves no residue, plus it has a really thin, fine edge which makes very crisp masking lines.

As for removing the tape, I wait until the paint is dry to the touch. Also, paint in thin coats, let them sit, then paint another coat, if you spray it on all at once it will be too thick and increases the chance of it coming up with the tape.

Thanks Richard!
I have been using the Blue tape and that seems to help with that fine edge (never thought of that being an issue), I think my issue is what you said about too thick a coat. Always trying to rush:rolleyes I will give that a shot as I would much rather have it dry before I take the tape off.
Thanks again:thumbsup
