Oiling, and removing rust for blued metal?

I've spent, a lot of time, and money blueing, and re-blueing, over, and over again, my less the wonderful Mal sidkit. And now that it's getting close to the color I want, I see some rust spots. :( Is there a way to remove the rust, without removing all the blueing? Like a cleaner, or de-ruster, or something?

Also, it's still a little lighter then I would like over all. (so are some of my other blued pieces. ) And I here that oiling it, can help with that, but I have no idea what "oil" to use. So, What kind of "oil" do I put on blued, or blacked, metal, to darken it, and were do I get it?

Thanks
Jason

There are a thousand different brands of gun oil that can be bought at any gun store, sporting goods store, Wal-mart, etc. You can get them online as well. I've had GREAT luck with THIS.

The trick to making it the bluing darker and eliminating the rust is to use black liquid leather dye - this seals in the blueing - and then use a clear laquer if neccassary.

HM, never heard of that before. That's cool, do you have any pics of what it looks like on something? Also, what brand of Die do you like?
