It is hard to see from some of the angles, but it appears that the underside bolt is just slightly forward of the through hole for the barrel trunnion pin (the foregrip mount). I suspect they tapped into the small wedge element just in front of this through hole. For the airsoft you would need to be careful not to tap to far in or it could hit the barrel lock plunger, but not a problem for replica.
Maybe someone on the forum who has seen the rifle up close could comment on how it "could" be attached? Maybe they just used velcro
