Oblivion - Bubbleship

WOW.. I've seen more from Native18, he is a russian rc builder and has built a Terminator Hunter Killer as well...

Where did you get the drawings of it. I am trying to build one for Orbiter. Having issues with the cockpit and scale.

This a sketchup version that I am trying to update for orbiter.

I have redone the cockpit but the scale seems off

I used every image I could find to insure sizes.
The best pic I found has Tom C. standing next to the ship.
Armed with that picture..and after researching Mr.C's true height ( 5' 10" ) I arrived at a working scale.
I then played around with enlarging and shrinking images till I had a decent batch of pics all at the same scale.

I saw where it looked like he was as tall as the flaps on the end. trying to get the cockpit down
Do you have any drawing of that.

this is what I have :

Not sure about the size of the inner ring.

I remember seeing a bonus feature where Daniel Simon mentioned that the pedals are very close to the front cockpit glass with something like "only a few millimeters clearance"
The figure you are using looks a bit odd. His lower legs are not proportional to the rest of his legs or body. I think this may be causing most of your ergonomic/scaling issues.
I am not sure which program you are using but maybe search for a posable 'ergoman' that you can import into that program rather than the standing character that you have adapted.
I also have a full 3D CAD model of the ship I can export to you for scale reference if you like. (I found it on GrabCAD, just search for 'bubble ship' on the site). The cockpit detail isn't complete yet though but it may help... :)

Here are some useful reference pics I have found that show the cockpit details relative to the rest of the ship in an orthogonal(ish) view.

Thanks. What format. Something like obj or 3ds is what I can deal with. What is odd on the first image you can see the inner ring that the pedals, chairs are mounted too. One would think that it was a perfect circle. But it looks the front of it matches the door. So it might be taller than wider. I guess as long as it doesn't hit the glass.

On the figure Yes I can adjust his legs. I had to adjust his legs for another vessel.

I don't want to derail the thread but there's no way Tom is 5'10"...:)

Some say 5'7" might even be too tall. Maybe someone here who's met him can chime in?

We just don't want your bubble ship to be too big...:lol

I think 5'7" is the advertised height. Also been read somewhere he is 5'4" an wears 3" lifts in his shoes.

Sweet ship though did love the design in this movie. I'd though a kit would for sure come out by now

having just joined the forum I have to say I am 'blown away' by the detail you guys can amass from images and film. I have only glanced through some of the threads, this one in particular has given me a fresh determination to make something. The bubbleship is a superb design and your info is a brilliant help. Thanks you so much for making this info available. I am watching and waiting for the next instalments.

Hey, could I get the cad file in .obj format? I'd like to build this model and possibly put a kit together for people out there, not sure what scale I will go for, but once it's build I can just group it all and scale it up to whatever scale is wanted or preferred. But that .obj file would give me a big head start and good reference. Just watched the movie 2 days ago lol. Let me know if I can get the hook up on the .obj file :) thanks!

Yeah I'd read he's 5'7" or 1.70m tall as well. Nicole Kidman was much taller than him even in flat shoes at 1.80m or 5'10".
