In March I'll be giving birth (David likes to say we'll be but trust me, it's all me...:)) to 2 identical baby girls, and we really wanted to have something special to look back on with regards to the pregnancy...so David turned me into a Display Prop:lol

Great detail down to the finger prints and skin pores. Oh and BTW, in case you were wondering those are both my hands .:angel

I was standing up, leaning against a wall for support and the whole moldmaking process took about 25 min. Not too bad but any longer would have been difficult for sure.

Molded from Algia Safe, Smooth-On's FANTASTIC Alginate..And the casting is Ultracal 30...but still needs to have the burr lap torched off of the edges, then the whole thing will get painted in some form.
Maybe a marble finish??...maybe a simple flat color??...I'm still not sure..but he'll 'probably' finish it next Saturday night. :lol

Two for the price of one. Congrats!

Wait till their teenagers then whip that out and scar them for life.

Re: Now I'm a Display Prop Too!

Good luck with the little padawan lol

Actually...before we knew they were identical, we toyed with male and female names...Dave was all about 'Luke and Lea'...naturally :cry

...and then I reminded him that our last name was 'Pea'..pronounced just like 'Lea'...So 'Lea Pea' would be too cruel to anyone.

:lol

nice lifecast.

as for finishing it off, marble would be tough (usually looks fake) and a flat color might be boring....i would suggest a faux antique bronze look..always looks cool/professional, and really easy to do/hard to mess up :)

Yup! Now I have to see what else is on my 'things to do' in a lifetime list.:lol:lol

Hi Oldken, and thanks for the welcome.
I've been lurking for the last few years, and have had to update Dave's threads for him from time to time but it was just getting way too confusing always using his board name, so with the last registration opening...I jumped in. :)

The comments are fine :) and all in good fun.....besides, I've been to some of the trade shows...:angel:lol

Re: Now I'm a Display Prop Too!

Semi-gloss white could be an interesting finish for such a piece... or possibly go all out gloss.

Re: Now I'm a Display Prop Too!

Be twisted!

Do one in black gloss with ribbed hosing attached, and make it slimy like the Alien.

:lol

Re: Now I'm a Display Prop Too!

Okay, I'll say it as no one else has the stones to: Is there a "no hands" version? :lol

Re: Now I'm a Display Prop Too!

Rimma,
great casting. I hope you and the twins are doing great. Get a lot of sleep now, because you will lose sleep the rest of your life, not just when they're young. They will be all you can think about un-till you can't think anymore.
