Nor Cal prop party, Saturday, November 2, 2013

I just saw this thread, thanks Jon, and I am interested. This might work out since I will be skipping Comikaze that weekend and the Rancho Obiwan charity event is too much money for me anyhow.

Big question.... can I bring my 4 year old son with me? If the club or if anyone has a problem with a 4 year old around their props and guns then please let me know, no hard feelings here.

Since there have been several questions posed recently, here are some replies;

1. This is a family friendly event. All children in attendance must be supervised at all times. This is an absolute.

2. Regarding beverages at the event; the location we have rented will have beverages on-site for PURCHASE by the prop party attendees. We would ask that alcohol not be consumed at the event, especially if children are present. As a note, the bar at the Club is in a separate area from the hall where we will be set-up.

3. There is NO SMOKING in the facility. Smokers may light-up in a designated area outside.

4. NO PETS, please.

5. A thread will be posted in the prop forum next week directing folks here for details.

Thanks again for all who have expressed an interest in this event.

As it turns out, it looks like the date conflicts with Camikaze in LA which we have to be at. Sadly that means that we will miss this event. :-(

I'll also have to pass as I plan to attend Comikaze as well. For those attending, I hope you have fun.

Looks like the wedding I have to be at is an evening event, so I may be able to head up here for a little bit to meet some fellow RPF folks. :)

I'm interested, but I need clarification.
Can I bring parts of my collection just to display or is there an expectation that I'll be selling or trading? The posts earlier in the thread left me confused.

This gathering can be many things: to show your collection; to buy, sell, or trade; or bring nothing at all and window shop. This is the prop and costume collectors/builders time to socialize and network.

Sounds like fun... Definitely interested.

Will post shortly to confirm.

I'm guessing this event is OK to attend even if you are just getting started in the RPF community? I'd just like to see all this stuff in person, you know, to truly geek out properly.

The event is open to all RPF members in good standing.

There might not be enough time left to organize it, but it would be cool if someone could volunteer a photo booth to take well lit pictures of people's props/costumes. There are several pieces in my collection I don't have pictures of because if I'm going to do it, I want to do it well.

Time is a bit short to arrange that, however, I'm sure there will be at least one person with a good camera in attendance.

That's what I suspected about photography. I guess I was just hoping for a clean backdrop similar to Propworx photos.

There's no way I can bring my whole collection. Partly because it's not all in the bay area. It's mostly Stargate and Defying Gravity with a small mix of other shows. If anyone wants to influence what I bring, send me a PM. My collection: Items owned by jo2y

I'll be bringing black backdrops to show off my LED builds and it would be great to get some professional pictures of them. If we could pull together and get a makeshift photo studio going I'd be glad to help.

We are one week away. UPDATES have been made to POST #1. Hope to see you all there!

So I will definitely be attending. If there's something of mine that you're interested in seeing, PM me and I'll add it to the stack.
