Thanks airair. Weren't you doing one of these as well? Something about an 80 shore material?

ive got the castings i did, the original piece was in clay and it crumbled.
So what I could do is grind one of the castings and reshape it slightly.

its quite close, but needs shaving on a few areas and then maybe making it a bit hollow.

I used that rubber casting material, think pt flex 85, which is too hard really, it can be made much softer.

I might give it a go again soon.

I will be using the A65 that I use for the soles.

The small bumps are most likely the venting ports of the mold.

Yeah I have seen plenty of photos where there is three small bumps symmetrically spaced on one the higher parts at the back. These would be vents. But I saw a photo where there were odd placed bumps and lumps and these would be cracks in the mold.

What do you guys think of this idea: How about we take out the technology of the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 (E.A.R.L) and put it in a Nike Mag Knockoff?

Those odd bumps are for the molds don't slide off each other and line up.

These are called registration points and are made in the molds, not on the parts. If you look at the photos, you see a heap of flash on the cast parts like the buckle. There are always three small symmetrically spaced lumps on these, but the photo I saw the other say had lumps near the slots where the strap goes through. That would be a mold issue.

So is it confirmed that these EARL shoes are for general sale and not the auction?

If it is for general sale, what price point would it be?

The motor box on the base is quite large. I think you would be cutting the midsole in half to fit this into a V2.

Note that the EARL has 5 laces, not 4. Not sure that will matter though.

The EARL is confirmed to be for general sale but the price isn't available yet. And for the lacing situation you can take off 1 of the laces and discard it and if the shoes have el sheets and not led I will probably put it in the strap.

---Update!---

I just read an article on the Nike News site saying that the EARL is only available to Nike+ Members but it is easy to sign up and in 3 colors. Personally I'm planning to get the white one so I can just take out all the tech without ruining the laces. You can read the article HERE and its at the very bottom.

@DSplayer I would suggest there is not going to be an easy way to convert these to a MAG.

My power laces experience tells me that it won't be as easy as you might think. Specially if you use the existing V2 or HC. You'll have to re do the upper or unstich every thing and replace the laces, fix them to the Adapt wires, put some sliding fabric inside to eliminate some friction issue, and the big issue is to fit the mechanism into the sole and there is another friction problem with the sole and insole... But if you go for it, take a lot of pictures, document everything and with all the people in here, maybe we'll be able to get this possible. ;)

The friction issues and running of the straps will be a non issue if using the EARL as a base. Mounting it inside a MAG is still going to pose some problems for a seamless blend.

I wear the US9.5s, but to fit EARL lacing system, might require me to buy US11s so there is some room around the foot frame.

yea, buying a EARL minimal size (like a 6) might help ? It might end up with less laces, and a smaller size that would fit in a size 10 mag ? I don't know... just saying...

For the friction, I think you'll have a surprise, trust me, when you open the Mags, it is not made for a lace that would slide in smoothly.
And the big friction issue is the room between the external fabric and the sole. You need to get the laces to go under un hard insole that would support your weight without touching the wires (I don't know if you can picture it) otherwise, you'll block the system. That'ss the issue I had to make my system to kill the Nike system :D - It is ok, but I needed to put a hard enough insole (hard like metal or wood) inside and leave a small space to allow the lace to go under it...

But as we don't know how this EARL is made...

If anyone is going to attempt this, they are going to have to buy an EARL in their size, then a V2 MAG in a larger size or maybe 2 sizes larger, max. I don't think 6 with a 10 is going to work because if your feet really are that small, you will look like Goofy with a size 10 on even as a skin. I can get away with an 11 because it is only 1/2 longer than my 9.5s. But it has the extra 1/4" width needed to still get my foot in there with the EARL lace portion of that shoe.

And so after a heap of sanding and filling, this part is finally taking on a shape I am liking. I've taken a good 1/2mm off the dome on the front and blended back in. I have also "squared up" the top dip. The epoxy I am using as a top coat here fills in any divots and the excess just flows off the end of the part leaving a glassy smooth finish.
There is a slight build up in the edge of the slot, but that is easy to reshape once this has cured.

I mean that if you get a EARL for making a powerlaced MAG V2, if you use a small EARL motor, you'll have a better chance to fit the system in shoe that would be bigger (but your size) only if the EARL is adapted to the earl shoe size, it would be smaller. I don't know if I'm clear :/
Anyway if you open a EARL to use the mecanics in a MAG, you won't use the ADAPT shoe so it doesn't matter if it is small... what matter is the size :)D ) of the Motor

You are going to want YOUR size so you can get your foot inside. Buying two sizes too small won't work. I know, I have US8 MAGs and I CAN NOT get my foot inside that shoe and that is only elastic. We are talking about straps and an electric motor here.

I will be. Hopefully I can pick up some more silicone this week.
