Its definitely a tough task and like cavx said, i dont think i would have the time to do multiple pairs but we'll see if i can pull this off first.
So the first step i took today was to make a base mould using a very thin foam. I will be using this for the internals.
Using the patterns that cavx sent me, ive had to scale them down and then fit them to the sole, then revisiting the patterns to make any adjustments and then making new patterns, refit ect. I think this first stage is the most important as this will determine the patterns for the outter layers and lining. So getting the right fit is key. Still have a bit if tweaking to do before i finalise the patterns.

What size are they?

The problem I am having with foam as the support (and yes I know NIKE did it) is that it will trap heat and make the shoe hot to wear. I honestly think a double layer of my mesh would be perfect for this because it has holes (being a mesh) and will allow the shoe to breath.

Looking forward to the next step.

I liked the upper of the upper - I tried something like that but the prototype showed me the foam 'frame' I used needed to be thinner, and the material needed to be stretchier and maybe thinner than what I had on hand. Haven't gotten back to trying that idea because of other commitments. Nice to see someone had some success with it.
And now seeing the full foam upper - cool! Good luck with your project! Someone on here did a cool looking foam frame with V1 soles ages and ages ago.
Hope to see some more updates with it (and details on what products to buy to try and make our own attempts)

The shoes are a size 8. I did manage to try on the foam prototype and they fit really good. Will fit even better once they are fully lined ect.
You're right about the heat. Maybe i might just use the foam halfway back from the second or third lace and have a thick mesh for the toe area for better breathing.
But i do think the thin foam is necessary around the cuff area as it will need the support to stand up.
Will check out spotlight tomorrow.

Ahh, that is why you had to scale. When I did the original sizing, it was supposed to be US8 for the pair I have in that size that had the uppers removed at the time. Once I got into making them up, I found that they were actually my (US9.5) size. I won't change the file name because right now, as it matches a size chart I found on line and where both the US8 number on the chart and the length of the footprint part of the pattern match.

Two or more layers of the mesh (and I will hopefully get that sample in the post tomorrow) are free standing. Based on what we have discussed, my thoughts are to exchange the foam for a third peice of mesh. The shell can glue to that on the wrap around if need be.

I have also run tests with a colorimeter on the colour of the light for an all EL set up as well as for those that want to save a bit of $$$ and buy that EL that is pink when off. The stuff I have is supposed to be white when on, yet mine is very blue. Like RGB values should all be 100% for white, this stuff measures R:80, G140, B180% or over 9300K. The odd part is, add a light yellow filter and the colour of the light almost balances up bringing it just off D6500K or colour of daylight.

Right now I am running two layers of the filter material for each row. The red is still not really "red" because of the bluish light behind. Yet lay that over the yellow and it becomes very red. Green actually becomes more correct green and yellow is just well, a better yellow. Do I do a yellow black layer? For better colours, yes I should, but TV run too for a reason - they appear brighter, so I guess I won't be doing a yellow back at this time.

So whilst this stuff is ideal for the LED cluster in the bubble because it is bright. I am not 100% convinced it should be used on the strap and soles, but in the end, you will probably have the shoes turned on anyway, so does it really matter?

Im new here and I would like say you are all incredible I read your mag topic since some week now and just a comment to say bravo!

Seens I'm a young boy I'm a sneaker fan and since some years 5/6 years now I collect them this hobby take me more time now between the chase, the restoration, the moding.

In 1989 when back to the future II was realised, I was young like the majority of you here ^^ but never I forgot the mag shoes

In 2011 when Nike have anonced the Nike MAG I was completely exited but they are completely untouchable for me.

In 2015 Nike anonced the mag with autolace system and again i'm completely exited by this news and I was hoping a reissue of the 2011 for the les fortunate but...

P.S. is it possible to a admin to add a correction to my pseudo normaly it will be galine and not gline ^^. thank you in advance.

This is at this moment I decided me to make me a V2 MAG mod. My idea is not to make them look them as the movie, or the RD but a mix betwin the movie, RD MAG, and some detail I would add for make my vision of a MAG.

Cavx have a litle idea of what i would say we have already talk together by mail about clear sole and tone ^^.

I hope recive my V2 soon for began seriousely the work.

So here are the latest tests I ran on the LED cluster using EL with a filter.

Image 1 is on the raw sheet. Note the colours are slightly off.
Image 2 is on the filtered sheet. I ended using a single layer of yellow here to bring the colour temp down.
Image 3 is enhanced and is closer to what it the colour do look like.
