Has anyone gotten any progress with the EL in the ankle bubble instead of LEDs?

Thanks airair, ive actually decided to try an all el setup.after reading what catfish45 is doing I ordered some el wire for the ankle bubble and sole, goin to give it a go, ill post results soon as everything gets here.if I dont like the el wire in the sole ill just use some aqua el sheet or cyan leds ive got layin around.these are my first pair of mags and I plan on doing a couple more pair for family so experimenting and practice will just make a better looking shoe.
I tried using el wire in the sole but couldn't find a way to get it to really glow. Basically you'll just see a bright line of el wire, maybe you can figure something out. I've shelved the el wire project for now as I needed my shoes to be ready for Halloween. I ended up modding my stock V2s, but not in the usual way. I removed the charging port, beefed up the wiring to the switch, dremeled channels in the soles for the stock wiring, resoldered a few of the leds on the ankle bubble, cut the battery out of the plastic housing, soldered in leads and am now running on a 3.6v 2200mah AA battery that I've let run for over 50 hours and still hasn't started to dim. While this sounds like a lot of work it really wasn't as I've now had several shoes apart and have the hang of it. I know the shoes are still inaccurate but as I plan to wear them often I was more looking for reliability and I feel I have achieved that.

Quick question catfish45 where did you get thr caps for the end of the el wire?I looked everywhere and couldnt find any for the 3.2mm I plan on using in the ankle bubble.this is the first pair of shoes I've ever taken apart but I must say it is a enjoyable learning experience. Also is it possible to wire all 3 of the el wires
in the ankle bubble together so I will only have 1 connector?

The caps actually came with the wire but from what I understand you can just use hot glue on the ends. Just make sure you make a good clean cut and test the wire before you cap the ends. You can definitely wire them to one connector, just cut the connectors off each wire and solder them together taking note of which side is + and - before you cut them.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Where did you order your el wire from? I've ordered from elwirecraft and ended up with some bum pieces. El wire pros is here in the us, actually down the street from me and they seem to be really good guys. Heck they even sent me a few pieces for free.

Has any one thought of doing an charging system that simulates the RD mags with the red bubble light which then turns green... Sort of like a phone charging light isn't it ??

Of course. The lights failed because of the crap electronics. Within 2 weeks, one if the charge ports fell off.
Since then, I have rewired the shoe.
I ordered from elwirepros also.i got me el sheet from a place called glowhut.both seem good with quick shipping and great products.got my switches in the shoes last night and supposed to get my elwire and leds in 2day, ill test them out to see which one will be brighter and post my results.

For gluing shoes back together? Yes, it is good stuff, but be careful with it, especially if you are going to use it on your MAGs,. It can get everywhere and leaves a mess. I suggest going to your local chemist and getting some syringes. You load them up by squeezing the Shoe Goo into the tube, insert the plunger and you now have a thin controllable stream instead of a massive pooling mess.
