Maybe next year they will appear on the NIKE website :)

Anyway caught up with RPF member sleepless today and went on the hunt for water clear rubber for casting the clear soles and found this

Much cheaper than the last product I used and in stock with local support. It is also a 2KG pack at 1:1 mix, so much easier to mix. The last lot was a 1.7KG kit with an odd ball ratio of 1:0.85 or something. They also have clear blue pigment so icy blue soles as well as clear white are possible. Actually for the price of the product, I might just make both and see what I prefer on my shoes. Because I want closer to screen accurate, I'd say clear.

I will be making US8, US9.5 and US11 at this stage. I am also looking at the possibility of a slightly over sized part that can be trimmed to size. These will be a 4 part set, 2 parts for left and 2 parts for right. Each rear part will be a single piece, negative waffled on the sides and with positive pyramids on the base. Shore hardness will be 65 +/-5 which is about the same hardness as a high performance tyre for a car. Stay tuned :)

I can see something great on the horizon. If things keep going where they are, screen accurate/RD shoes will be accomplished. I hope Nike doesn't get wind of this and try to shut us down.

On a side note, I wore my V2s to the gym and got good recognition. A Marine that lives across from me in the barracks even said he wants a pair now.

This time I have help too and by someone that makes all sorts of things in rubber, urethane resin etc. I also have a Vac Chamber to degas first which is something I didn't have last time I did this.

NIKE would rather shut down the factories making replicas than a few enthusiasts making parts to enhance their shoes.

Nice Cavx! Looking forward to progress reports! also, how did that set of Mags in leather go?

I'll update this thread as I make progress.

The leather MAGs were not accurate but they were wearable and considering it was the first time I had ever made a pair of shoes, I think I did OK. Of course I didn't have any patterns to work off, so had to create my own (did this by placing tape over a real shoe, cutting it off and laying it out flat).

Yesterday I printed out those MAG patterns and did a mock up on a smaller printed version and it goes together really well. The internal parts are needed and I and starting to understand why so many parts are included on that original plan. The alignment points really help too, so the next step for that will be to buy a large section of vinyl and make a 1:1 in my size. If I am to actually do a leather pair, there is no point working in foam.

The sole template is crucial to the design, but like that inner heel part, I think you need to cut out the centre of the foot leaving a ring to attach the upper. You then add that cutout part later on. The shoe upper should free stand without needing the foot frame of the midsole for support or shape.

I've been finding it very hard to find anywhere that sells styrene for the new LED board in the MAG heel.

In the end I bought a sign made of what a believe to be something close to styrene, I am going to use the reverse side for mounting the LED's even though it has a very slight blueish color to it. Hopefully you wont notice when its in place.

Nah. It won't be noticable at all. Especially since we cloud up the heel bubble a bit with clear coat.

Speaking of the bubble piece. Are people still using my mod to make it stick out like it should? I see some people aren't doing it and im not sure everyone knows about it since it was kind of a long time ago. I'd like for all to know everything on how to get the most accuracy out of these shoes.

On my wear pair, the bubble does stick out a fair bit, but not quite as much as your image shows.

Mine sticks out just as much as the RD from what i can tell from pictures, but not as much as cloneprops. His stuck out a lot.

Thanks Mitas,

Does anyone happen to know what glue Jedifyfe was using on the toe box to get the factory sealed look? It was the glue he used to run a thin bead around the toe box after he secured it in place.

The second picture is a glue or just a needle type container to apply the loctite?

It's just a needle type container to apply what's in the first pic. Same bottle as what Jedifyfe used in his youtube tutorial on the toe mod. Search ebay using the words liquid flux syringe needle bottle, or any combination thereof, and you should find them available from various sources. The only drawback is that the glue kind of dries inside the needle once you've used it, so you have to have a very thin wire to clear it out if you need to use it again, like for the second shoe.

I already know I'm never gonna get one here in the philippines, i wonder if a normal needle from the drug store will work just as well?

The down side is I'm gonna look like a crack head buying some. Lol.

Just go to your local chemist and get 3mm diabetic syringes and needles. Get a few so you can dispose of them when they clog up. I buy them 10 at a time and pay $5.00 total.
