I can see something great on the horizon. If things keep going where they are, screen accurate/RD shoes will be accomplished. I hope Nike doesn't get wind of this and try to shut us down.
This time I have help too and by someone that makes all sorts of things in rubber, urethane resin etc. I also have a Vac Chamber to degas first which is something I didn't have last time I did this.
NIKE would rather shut down the factories making replicas than a few enthusiasts making parts to enhance their shoes.
Nice Cavx! Looking forward to progress reports! also, how did that set of Mags in leather go?
I'll update this thread as I make progress.
The leather MAGs were not accurate but they were wearable and considering it was the first time I had ever made a pair of shoes, I think I did OK. Of course I didn't have any patterns to work off, so had to create my own (did this by placing tape over a real shoe, cutting it off and laying it out flat).
Yesterday I printed out those MAG patterns and did a mock up on a smaller printed version and it goes together really well. The internal parts are needed and I and starting to understand why so many parts are included on that original plan. The alignment points really help too, so the next step for that will be to buy a large section of vinyl and make a 1:1 in my size. If I am to actually do a leather pair, there is no point working in foam.
The sole template is crucial to the design, but like that inner heel part, I think you need to cut out the centre of the foot leaving a ring to attach the upper. You then add that cutout part later on. The shoe upper should free stand without needing the foot frame of the midsole for support or shape.
