Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

It won't matter because with 800 or finer paper, the scratches are so fine you simply diffuse the light.

Yeah but the scratches are still visible unless you hit it the Matte Spray.

Taff, I sanded the outside of bubble.

BTW, made a new strap today...

Well, I am sure there is a way to do it but you would have to have a lot of experience with electronics, more than I know.

While it would be a cool "novelty" prop, I think most of us just want to wear these things.

I understand this feeling... Meanwhile I just hope that Nike releases it with this technology in the future... but just to know that this will maybe happen at 2015... I think is so much time to wait... that I get very sad.

I think I'll wait a little more to see the progress of this replicas (the work that you are doing is amazing), and maybe the release of a V3 version with the ELs and lights corrected.

And if they don't release this new version, I really hope that you do that Jedyfife! :thumbsup (At least the upgrade service for the V2's).

It's a fact: Just that outlook visual of the shoes, with the correct lights and EL strap, worth each dollar spent.

Thanks for the reply!:cool

Regards!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks Wes. I hope they do release a V3 but I still think they won't get it exactly right. Now if they were to hire me to help them...well then maybe.

That should be an awesome Jump, don't you think?

Have you tried to make contacts with these sellers, like Karin Chen, to offer your work? If don't, you should do like Taff did... sending the pictures of the step-by-step progress of your modifications... (well not so complete to see if they really hire you for this job ;)).

It could be another great way to rise your funds! Think about it! :thumbsup

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I need a pair of these but just can't pull the trigger knowing new ones are coming out and possibly much cheaper.Mods look great taff and brad :cool

I miss ripping apart mag shoes and I would attack those toe slims in a heartbeat lol

It's amazing how far these mods become, I feel like mine back in the day were not even good :unsure

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I hear ya Mike. I am not sure that even if they make a V3, that they will get it right. We'll see.

A couple of more finished pics:

Now I have to do the other shoe...UGH.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks for all your kind comments!

Wow Brad the toe slim in the second photo(front elevation with new strap http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v471/jedifyfe/Dsc06122.jpg ) makes your mags look like the real deal, seriously amazing job and I wish you were working in the factory helping these factory workers out.

I have to grab the bull by the horns tonight and try this, they look too good not to!

Ill do the defuse of the LEDs first though, thanks for sharing your method, so happy it can be done from the outside :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Brad, those images look stunning. Now I want to see these V2 K-MAGs side by side the real deal MAG, in the same size. Scaling images doesn't really tell the whole story I don't think as I think these are not quite tall enough, but they look great though and 200% over the V1.

Yeah, that shot does look great. I'll take video of them when I have the second shoe finished with the lights redone.

I look forward to your toe slim. Here's a tip, this fabric can't stretch like the MP Mags, but these soles stretch. So when you cut away the excess fabric and start to reglued it down to the sole, use the stretchiness of the soles to help you.

I would love to see that also!

I can't imagine the RD Mags being taller than these. Already these are really tall. Any taller and they would look stupid. These are taller than the MPs by about 1/2 inch.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Thanks for the tip, appreciate your help!

Just a quick one.. I'm putting together a procedure for the defusing of the lights, can you check if this is right before I commence? As follows:-

1. Clean area of bubble so no dust Ect is on there.
2. Mask the upper, heel cup and soles so they can't be contaminated.
3. Wet sand bubble.
4. Matte/frosted spray the bubble.
5. Remove masking.

Also if above is correct (crosses fingers) can you tell me why we need to sand them and not just do the matte finish? Just confused what this does to the look.

Any help as always is grateful :)

Perfect. I recommend the wet sad to give the Matte Spray something to stick to. These bubble are way too smooth and I am sure there is still mold release or some type of oily residue still on them, so sanding them will give it a slightly rougher surface for the spray to adhere to. Once you hit it with the spray, the smoothness comes right back.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Awesome cheers for that,I need to find some fine sand paper, I have quite fine stuff at home I might rub together till its pretty much "sand less" then do as you sad "lightly" sand it.

Oh see the toe slim did you use a hair dryer to assist in removing the glue or did you just use exacto knife all the way round?

Promise that's my last question! :p

Lol. DO NOT USE AN XACTO KNIFE AT ALL!!! Simply use your fingnail or a very blunt ended thin metal object to start prying the fabric from the sole. Believe me, it is a very tough thing and your hands will get tired but stay away from using a knife. If you can get the hair dryer to help, go for it and let me know if that worked. I couldn't get the hair dryer to work for me when I did the EL soles.

Maybe YOU can explain that one to me...

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Oh ok, my bad lol thank god i asked, that would have been a bad start eh? :facepalm

Ye i love using a hairdryer on these Chinese knockoffs, the V1 i could strip within 10 minutes using a hairdryer, the blonde's hairdryer is sh1te though, it overheats and switches off a lot..

anyway here is a 2 minute video how i did it, should have posted it sooner so my apologies but i don't think anyone else is modding these shoes apart from us, so its all good :D

If it doesn't work let me know.

Hey guys, what is this?

Look at the line just behind the SWOOSH. PLEASE tell me that is not a seam.

theres no seam, thats just the raised lace outline. look at it again, theres 4 laces, you can see the outline of the last one (probably because the way the image is lit or taken).

theres only 2 seams on the nike mags, back and side thats it.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

PHEW! THANK YOU! I was about to go into a melt down if all this time I had it wrong :)

Airair, do you how tall a size US 10 MAG actually is? All I have seen is scaled images for this and well, for we know, they could very well be a size 7 next to an 11, then scaled to be the same size.
