Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Yea got lazy. Going to eventually do just one batt and one switch. The mod is more complex then I expected. But I'm working on it.

Ugh....tell me about it. After doing 4 shoes already and having 6 more to go...I'm getting a little burnt out.;)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I'm not sure when this happened, but cloneprops's store doesn't sell the small version on the ankle buckles anymore. I'm really bummed about this. I was really wanting a pair once I get my V2s.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

That's a really helpful tutorial, Jedifyfe. Thank you. But I do think it could be slimmed a little more. You can see here:

Unless this can't be helped, I apologize.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Ok I see. Kind of a shame, but at least it still looks awesome.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I think there is a little more to it than just getting a matching paint color. Regular acrylic paint will eventually wear away. Maybe getting some puffy paint and using a very thin paint brush would be a better option, but not a 100% solution. I'm sure cloneprops could help on this one.

Who mentioned acrylic paint? Use enamel paint and a clearcote. done and done.

Well without saying which type in your post before, someone who doesn't know much about paints would probably just get acrylic. Thanks for the tip though. I can't find the right shade of turquoise enamel online, so if I do this on my pair I'll just mix blue and green until I get there.

I think the only way to match the color is to mix blue, green and maybe some white or black and then wait for it to dry to see if it matches.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Would clear plasti dip spray work for sealing the paint on the midsoles?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

I don't think you'd need that, just a clearcote that won't yellow over time such as Tamiya's clearcote.

I think I'll go with plasti dip just to be super safe. It's specifically made to be flexible and stuff like that.

"Plasti Dip protective coating products resist moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding/slipping, and provides a comfortable, controlled grip. It remains flexible, stretchy and will not become brittle or crack in extreme weather conditions; -30°F to 200°F"

All of this is just if there isn't enough splatter. I won't need to do all this if there is. Plus I might even ask the seller to make sure I get a pair with enough splatter. I'm not sure If they can do that, but it will be worth a shot.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

They can't. The fabric doesn't stretch.

Yeah, i think thats as much as you can do the toe slim.

The main reason why it will never look right compared to the movie/RD shoe, is that actual height of the front lip is not tall enough. It tapers off by at least 1 cm, and there is no way to fix this, unless you recast your own soles.

Its the same problem as with v1 soles, front lip is too short, should be much higher.

on the feet, nobody can see anyway.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

hi, can someone help, i think im getting confused by these online resistor calculators

if i put in 9v in series with 2.2 led voltage drop, 20ma current and 4 leds.

it recommends a resistor of 10 Ohms at 1/8W (0.125)

But I think Jedifyfe and others have used 10 Ohms at 1/4 W (0.25) and they work no problem.

So does it matter if i get 1/8W or 1/4W resistors?
