Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

S0 Taff, how many hours are you getting out of your 3.7v batteries for the LED's and EL?

Sorry for belated reply, still in Switzerland on holiday.

From a 1200mah battery I got 4 1/2 hours, when I get back to work next Monday I will try the 1800mah ps3 batteries then lastly the 2000mah digi cam batteries, after that I will finally pick what battery to use as the main thing is how you charge each battery the safest.

Oh Brad did you get those white switches yet? A side by side shot against the Judco would be great :)

My white switches arrive from the 26th March to 12th of April... :(

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Is there a way to hide the judco switch a little more in the stuffing of the top white part? It bothers me a little that it sticks out that much.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Aww. Its ok. I can definitely see how it could easily be read that way. Should have added a smiley at the end of it. :)

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Just got notification of my orders shipment! Looks like Ill be needing a few more 9v batteries.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

That's a really helpful tutorial, Jedifyfe. Thank you. But I do think it could be slimmed a little more. You can see here:

Unless this can't be helped, I apologize.

I'd say Jedifyfe's toe slim shape is correct. I think the reason it looks different to the RD is that the rubber sole tapers off at the toe on the K-MAG where it does not on the RD, hence the part of the toe looks slimmer on the RD.

You could do the toe build up like Punisher and airair did to their V1 soles in the other K-MAG thread. A lot of work to do that to these shoes though as you would have to recreate the little bumps and splat all over again and if you were going to that trouble, I think the only way to truly correct this is to sculpt and cast a new sole and then you might as well do the outrigger clear part as well. Just a lot of work for a very small detail many would not even notice.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Looking at the pictures I posted of the RDs and Jedifyfe's V2s, I noticed that the laces and ribs on the V2s don't match up on the midsole where they should. I'm not sure if this has already been pointed out though, so correct me on that if it has.

how come the 1200mah battery only lasts 4.5 hours? i would have thought it would last longer.

a 9v (average 550 mah) battery seems to be lasting 4 hours or so according to jedifyfe and others.

Is it simply to do with larger current being a factor?
Cloneprops seemed to suggest it was nothing to do with voltage, but mah.

This is all confusing!:wacko

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Airair I think it's because the EL panels are 12v so they use alot of power but I'm not sure, as its only 3v setup it drains it alot faster, still a 2000mah battery should last longer than 7 hours. When I get back off my holiday I will do more tests.

If you can find EL panel lower than 9/12v that would be great, did u get those inverters btw?

yes, i should have the thin 3v Inverters tommorow. I'm going to list a few for sale in the junkyard too if anyone needs any.

I'm also trying to source the thin 9v inverters that coolight are selling, but seems like nobody has them.

That thin 9v inverter is the only one that can fit in the standard hole alongside a 9v battery.

I will find it though eventually!

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

If anyone needs any of the ultra thin 3v inverters, i have a post up in the Junkyard.

They are good as they are the thinnest availabe for any of you guys going the 3v route like a few of us. I'm also sourcing some 9v thin ones, but they seem to be hard to find.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

i was viewing this video again, and another new one, this guy has made 2 modded versions of nike shoes with mag inspired features.

the newest one is quite cool based on a nike revis cool grey.

Nike Zoom Revis "Mag" - YouTube

Nike Hypermag Prototype Custom - YouTube!

im not sure what el inverter he is using, but it seems he is using lithium ion batteries with chargers and maybe custom circuit board. I'm also a bit boggled how that el cutout on the sole is being passed through the shoe? seems to be no duct tape anywhere.

i like the effect of when the switch is pressed, the leds come on one row by one, then the el lights come on.

would anyone know how we could do this on the Mag v2s? it might be cool to have something like this, or maybe even something better on the v2 mags.

Those look fantastic! He should have used EL panels for the Nike Swoosh.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Hah. I did my hyperdunks a while back. After seeing this guys conversions a month or two ago, I decided to change my blue lighting...

yeah, he definitely must have seen yours before doing his.

on yours, what inverter did you use and how did you hide it in those hyperdunks?

ive got a few pairs, but i cant see any way to hide anything in there, unless you opened up the soles?

I didn't use any EL in these, only LED's. The battery is in the sole though, so I did have to open it up for that.
