So I went to lunch and had a 19 year old girl stop me and ask me if these were the Back to the Future shoes. She had known about them and thought they were the coolest shoes.

Then I went to STAPLES and I had a 25ish year old guy stop me to take a picture of my shoes. And as I was walking into COSTCO I heard a person say "that guys has the shoes from Back to the Future".

It seems that everybody knows about these. CRAZY!!

Do you have the lights on during all these outings? Or is it in the daytime...
If you have the lights off sometimes, does the attention drop?

Sorry to go slighty OT but one thing I really liked about my visit to the US back in 2010 was when my wife and I went to this massive shopping centre (mall?) wearing (she had the ladies version of) Jordan 8 retros and all the positive comments we got about how cool our shoes were. It was pretty cool to know the younger people in the US seem to really embrace hi-tops where here in Oz, if they are not VANS, they might just throw stones...

Today I didn't have the lights on at all and that's when most people noticed them. I tuck my pant legs in so they look like they did on the movie.

Yes that's how I wear all hi-tops and intend on wearing the Mags: skinny jeans tucked into the shoes... :cool

I wore them out last night to a high end lounge in Hermose Beach and had the lights on. I had SO many people talking about them. There were several people that asked me about them. It just keeps getting better and better.

I would love to wear a pair of accurate nikes around everyday..but I would be partially worried that I would get jumped or something by someone that confuses them for the official multi-thousand dollar Nikes. :lol

Anyone tried out a pair of these things on a skateboard yet? :love

Good stuff. I've been wearing hi-tops since about 1987 and challenges I had over the years were - lack of any real height and the fact that most hi-top shoes were white with colour trims. I never liked wearing them with dark jeans because they stood out too much. What makes the MAG cool apart from its height is that being grey, it matches better with both light and dark jeans.

If a V3 does come out, I will suggest it will be a re-worked version of the V2. The main difference is that they probably will light the strap. I can't see them flattening the ribs or toe.

Cloneprops clear soles were made for his shoes in his size (about US9). He has talked about releasing different sizes in shapeways, but AFAIK, has not done so yet. The point being, even if he does, you won't be able to just print in clear and glue these to your shoes. They will need to be molded and cast in clear elastomer.

So far he has released the Ankle Buckle (worth buying) and a mini-MAG that could be used for an excellent reference for a scratch build.

Iam doing the same thing in a (size 11) could you show me how you are making yours i would be happy to share ideas with you are you making a new mold, or are you making the icy soles like the R.D Mags with the outer rig

Are you guys going to make a one piece part or pour flat and bend? Last time I used an expensive cold cast clear elastomer and managed to get a less then perfect set of clear soles by pouring a flat mat, cutting to shape and gluing.

I will be having another go but will probably just Shoe Goo and the ice trick. To keep it all level, I am thinking of making a 3mm frame to sit on the pyramid mat, then fill a wine bottle full of water and freeze it to make an ice cold rolling pin. Once wet, it should not stick to the Shoe Goo and that should be enough to keep the pour an even thickness.

I did use release agent last time and I think this time, I'll use Vaseline as nothing seems to stick to surfaces coated with that. Will be much cheaper than the CCCE (which was about $200) and has a higher shore hardness than the silicone I've played with.

Almost fully done guys im just waiting on the new white leather for the tongues after i get the leather i will put the shell together . here is some pics of my almost spot on shell.
