Yep. The first pair I cut the soles open with an exacto knife and installed the EL sheet behind the cut outs in the shoe. The second pair, I used the hairdryer to remove the soles and then cut then EL sheet to match the real MAGS.

Yeah, both look fantastic.
But the second pair looks spot on.


PS, Did you remove those clear plastic led diffusers before placing the EL cutout, or is it best to just leave them in place behind the El cutout?

Also, your other pair is 9.5 US? and that one fits better? i might check the fitting on that.

I've got a pair in 9.5 US also, but haven't tried them on yet. I'm usually a size 11/12 US.

I like the little glue bottle technique for the factory finish.

What do you reckon about shoegoo?
I might use some shoe goo after the loctite as its pretty tough and solid and waterproof.

PS, anyone in the UK who needs some size 10s, ive put two of my extra pairs FS in the junkyard.
Im going to be needing quite a few EL sheets and inverters for modding all the other pairs!

The thing about Shoe Goo is it is very thick so it won't push through the needle, but used with a plastic syringe, and you should be be able to get a nice fine line.

Okay guys I really need some help. I'm going to be converting a pair of the Chinese knock off air mags which are the ones that come with the ****ty led lights. I'm going to replace the led lights like jedifyfe did how would I go about doing this? I heard to iron those 4 little things that are popping out of the sides so they go down a bit into the shoe now is it an iron were talking about for clothes? Last question when replacing the lights where do I get the perfect lights that are bright and nice like the official pair ?

ok i decided to go for it and attempt my first toe slim :wacko
It was pretty nerve wracking pulling the toe up (and not really knowing what i was doing!) but I thought just go for it. I must admit at one point I thought i'd messed them up but it came together in the end.
Here's a couple of pics with it compared to the standard toe, let me know what you think :thumbsup

Also found this camera battery round the house could be a good candidate, though not sure if it's any smaller than what is already being used by people

yeah it's one of those mods I thought i'd leave but now it's done it really does make a big difference to their appearance.

Well done! You mentioned when you walk they crease, they make these foam inserts that work really well you put them in the toe and they stick and stop the toe area from creasing. I use them in any nice pair of shoes I have! Anyways again good job I am impressed and I think you have inspired many!! lol

This may be a stupid question but what are you guys using to recharge the Li-Ion battery? What Are your thoughts on using an IPOD battery like this?

I would have thought the IPod battery was smaller. Thanks for the info. How would you recharge it without having the controller?

So I went to lunch and had a 19 year old girl stop me and ask me if these were the Back to the Future shoes. She had known about them and thought they were the coolest shoes.

Then I went to STAPLES and I had a 25ish year old guy stop me to take a picture of my shoes. And as I was walking into COSTCO I heard a person say "that guys has the shoes from Back to the Future".

It seems that everybody knows about these. CRAZY!!
