TOLD YA SO!!!!!!! Awesome work buddy!!!!!

Did someone ask for for flattened laces???...

I did the long awaited "Hot Ironing" trick. Works like a charm. I just put a thin towel over the shoe while I was ironing then.

Here is the a comparison shot. Can you tell which one has flattened laces??

Woot Woot! Yea I was sitting here and remembered that I suggested it and thought Id give it a look to se what you thought. The reply was like..."No that sounds risky!" the next post was..." ok I did it! It works!" It gave me a good ol chuckle! It really means a lot to me knowing that I helped someone out.

He has actually come up with a few good ideas for these shoes. His toe correction (building it up) was the stand out one for me. It seems he is not actively posting about MAGs anymore.

Thanks Cavx! Yea I think I blew my fuse when working on mine from putting so much effort into it and honestly Im almost done with mine I just need to get a decent sewing machine. So far Ive bought 2 battery powered hand held ones and also a manual staple type sewing machine and none seem to want to sew more than an inch or so. The main part I'm on now is the white border, other than that I just need to glue the lace inserts, add laces, paint my textured sole.

I'll take pics of mine currently because I believe it will help you out a bunch because after extending the toe height you can clearly tell where the shoe goo stops and there the foam starts. To blend them together I stippled the soles for hours making it bumpy and its ALMOST blended perfectly. Theres still some crater type spots but this may also be replicated by using the paint like Taff did to texture the buckles and heel that gives it a stone speckle effect. Hopefully he can chime in with its usefulness when it comes to flexibility.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Was just wondering,

anyone else with v2 pairs, doing a complete wiring of their shoes?

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Has anyone done any mods to their shoes worth showing? I would love to see some of your guys' work. I feel so lonely... :cry

im not even sure what to ask for and which shops sell it?

is there a specific name for it? i would like to get some materials this weekend, so will have a browse around a few shops
thanks

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

Something no one has mentioned that I have seen, to anyone and everyone planning to use a 3.7v battery and DC what kind of charger are you planning to use?

Styrene is the type of plastic sheeting you should be able to get at a hobby store. It come is different thicknesses or gauges. It's great stuff because its easy to cut with scissors.

great thanks

how thick is the mm with that led board thats already with the shoe?

i might as well get something similar in size.

2mm sounds ok i think.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

i would love to get some opinions.

what do you guys think of the safety of lithium rechargeable batteries vs standard alkaline batteries?

especially if the battery is going to go under your foot!!

i just have this thought at the back of my mind over how safe each method is!

im not really too fussed with charging. A battery can be easily replaced manually, although for a scratch build i would probably go with a rechargeable one.

I have put li-ion batteries in other shoe projects before. If you do end up putting it in the sole make sure the battery has plenty of room. Enough room on all sides of it so when you put your weight on it, it will not compress at all.

Re: Nike Mag V2 mod discussion and builds

it's about 1.5mm. Yes so 2mm is fine.

great, thanks for the help.

ps, when you open the sides of the shoes to place the EL semi circles, how big is the gap for the wire to run from them through to the hollow bit of the sole where the battery is laying?

is it quite big, so you can easily run the wires through, or did you have to cut out some space to make it bigger?

thanks

yeah, its why im thinking the lion battery method is best suited if its in the ankle buckle, but for that, it means having a new buckle, either the cloneprops one or a custom made one

the existing v2 buckle can't house any 3.7v battery/inverter setup as its too thin.

at the moment, like jedifye has done, a 9v battery inside the square hollow big inside the sole seems the most logical, and you can fit the inverter in there too.

Here ya go Brad, everyone can cringe at these pics. First one is a toe slim, second one is a toe slim and EL strap with stock LEDs, third is both the sole and heel removed, 4th and 5th are wires ran ready to install everything. Hurts to look at
