hi, sorry guys if this is the wrong place but its my first post. im looking at getting my mags wiring re done. i purchased them a month ago and one of the lights doesnt work. not the blue lights but the multi coloured one. it flickers constantly. my problems have got worse as the black button has fell off now aswell so i cant turn them off and on. i was speaking to a guy from this forum but have not heard back from hm. im guessing hes got alot of work on at the moment. can anyone help me ? if someone could inbox me with a price that would be awesome, im based in the UK. thanks and hope someone can help. thanks in advance guys !!!

Typical of the cheap, nasty wiring. Both the charge ports and switches fell off my wear pair. I have two pair and one shoe of 2nd pair (which have never been on my feet) won't hold charge now. I set them up for charge and left them over night. The Blue LEDs on the right shoe were dim like the battery was almost flat. Crap electronics for sure.

Can the ankle strap outer layers be re-separated once glued with the 3M Super 77? Or is the Super 77 a permanent bond and will not glue back together if re-applied?

You can definitely reopen the strap
if you used super 77.

The only issue you may have is that the super 77 spray glue goes a bit yellow brownish. You might to scrape or slightly sand down the glued sides before you deepest.

The super 77 is strong but not super permanent.

Thanks ariair! Ok, good to know. I glued my strap flat, but once i bent the strap to its natural curve, the layers came undone where wrinkles formed. I need to have it redone with a slight curve while I glue it back.

Before I embarked on this project, I used to think that I would not ever pay more than $200+/- to get my shoes modded. This mod is so much work! (although I'm enjoying every step of the way.) Now that I truly understand the blood/sweat/tears behind this mod job, [if I ever decided to] I wouldn't even think about selling my shoes for less than $1000. One truly has to experience the work involved in this to realize that people wanting this mod job for a couple hundred dollars is flat out ridiculous and unreasonable. lol!

agreed! not as easy at it looks.

You are exactly correct. Also if you screw up the toe mod, you might as well throw the shoes away and start over. It's always the people who have no talent or who have never built anything in their lives that complain about the cost of the mod. Let alone the EL sheet costs $50-$60. Then you add in the wiring, LEDs, tape wire, wire glue, on/off button and your time. I don't do these mods for less than $1400 now. I also stand by my work. There maybe people who will half ass a mod but they will look like crap and the electronics will fail. Just like S02's horrible job.

Very true, once you add up all the parts, then you add in the time required to basically strip open the shoes, place new wires, solder custom LEDs, switches and then placing this all back in is no easy job.

Also, despite them being knockoffs, the shoes as they come from the factory (despite the rubbish electronics in them), they are very solidly glued down all round, so just taking them apart is quite the mission!

The irony is that I've gotten better with the toe mod especially after doing it on the 2nd shoe; however, I was super sloppy with glueing back the strap together and centering the EL through the exposed trapezoid where the Nike logo goes. I got Super 77 everywhere (luckily it rubs off) but for some reason, the EL shifted off center when I glued back the strap sides. This happened on both shoes. I peeled apart the strap sides to redo it and I still botched the centering of the EL sheet. lol

It won't be noticeable though when I wear the shoes, unless someone goes to my feet level and stares at the strap logo. lol

Awesome video as always Brad! I was actually going to ask you if you could make a comparison video because I was so curious as to what the main differences in detail were. So I'm glad you produced this video.

+1 mcabrera1275.

I have a question ! Which on/off switch i must take ? There are so many on eBay !

When you ironed the side laces to be more flatter in appearance, how did you prevent from "burning" the Nike logo on the side?

I put a white tshirt I between the iron and the shoe.

I use the Judco j-987-1

I dremel it a little bit to round the corners of it and make it slimmer.

So did you ever get it to work?

That vid is fascinating brad! I can't believe how close yours are to rd.
I kinda like the yellowing o the chinese knock offs.
I think it's because they remind me of the original screen used ones hahah.

Anyone else feel the same?

I did, as I was able to re-glue it with the slight curve to the strap. However, the EL sheet placement was slightly off through the exposed trapezoid area. This was caused because it shifted. The lesson I learned for next time is that I won't put black electrical tape on the sides of the EL sheet as it makes it too thick to glue down the strap sides, thus causing the shifting. I also found that the Loctite Flexible Fabric glue works really well in lieu of the Super 77 spray.

Brad, I've noticed on the authentic Mags that the Nike logo on strap actually doesn't have a visible border around the text and actually goes all the way to the edge on the trapezoid area. If that's the case, when I redo this, I won't have to worry about shifting as the text will go towards the edges and a border won't ever be exposed. Can you please confirm?

Thanks,
Michael

anyone found a product that's the right colour for the V2 midsole repaint when they go yellow? Probably need a fabric paint, so it won't flake and come off. I've bought 2 greys, but one is too dark and the other too light. Suppose I could mix it to get the right colour, but just hoping there might be a 'right colour' out there that someone here might know of.
Thanks!
