Am I doing the toe mod correctly? I tried to follow Brad's tutorial on YouTube , but wasn't able to successfully separate the upper from the sole like he was. On his, it is cleanly separated where the gray t-shirt material was not removed in any way. On mine, I wasn't able to separate it cleanly like that (see pic #2 below.) I still have t-shirt material glued into the rubber sole, as it was simply cut away from my butter knife.
Did I screw up this pair? Was I supposed to use a blowdryer first to make the glue softer or something?

what was the point of replacing the battery?
the whole wiring that comes with the shoe is dreadful, its a waste of time trying to change anything of the existing wiring.
the only thing its good for is to be ripped out and chucked in the garbage can.
Phew! Thanks guys.
Does the Loctite shoe goo stuff that goes over the edges dry clear? Or will it stain the t-shirt material of the shoe?
I was just wondering, has anyone had any luck trying to make the 'wings' or whatever they're called look more similar to the RD's where the grey material is the same or thicker than the white collar tip?
(toe mod lookin good Mcabrera, your pic was a good example hence why i borrowed, hope you dont mind)
Does anyone think we might be able to try gluing some foam behind this piece to 'pad it out' ?
Or has anyone tried?
To my mind that area is one of the major points that distinguishes the replicas from the RDs at first glance.
I was wondering how much extra material there might be behind there before I experiment with removing the stitching....
Also, if anyone wants the 'wings' to have a bit more stiffness to them, it is possible to sew in some thin plastic to the inner of the shoe - for my first experiment I used 2 layers of a clear plastic binder material glued together, so the 'stiffener' is only 2mm thick. Doesn't seem too uncomfortable, but have yet to wear them out for a few hours to see how it goes. The best place for it would be between the layers so it's more hidden, but I'm no seamstress so i went with minimum sewing.... haha.
Oh, also, I'm still searching for the 'right colour' of grey fabric paint to try repainting the midsole, for those of us who let our first pairs get too much sun and go yellow..... will update if I can get the colour close enough.

It's called wire tape. Check eBay for it. It's normally used in doll houses to wire them for electicity in their VERY thin walls.

When separating the icy soles from rubber sole to install the larger EL's on the side of the shoe, how are you guys opening it up? Are you using a blowdryer to open up the icy soles? Or are you peeling it back and slicing with an Exacto knife?
I think most of us are just using a hairdryer over the clear soles, then slowly peeling it back.
you can use a butter knife and then once you have a bit of it open, just use your fingers.
it takes a while, as the clear soles can sometimes be quite sticky.
just make sure you don't do it too hot, and don't get the hairdryer anywhere too close to near the grey fabric!
Just hover over the clear soles with the hairdryer and start to peel it, it eventually comes off.
check this vid out from Taff83 on here:
Thanks airair! Your advice definitely worked. It just took a lot of patience and some sore fingers from extreme heat. lol I placed a strip of EL underneath the clear soles and my EL doesn't have the bluish color that many of your Mags have on the pictures posted throughout this thread. Mine is more bluish-green in color.
I purchased the green EL that was listed on page 58 (shopping list), but was wondering if maybe you guys are using a blue EL sheet? Do I have the correct color? What is the color of the EL on the real Mags?
