Nike Mag 2016 Lottery

I find it "funny" how Nike is making available like 16 total pairs of the power lace Mags, and they bitch and moan about how fragile the laces are and tell you not to really wear them, and the battery doesn't last long (Tiffany said just 2 hours if you have the lights on?!?!?!?!), etc, etc, etc. Too much to go wrong for a wide release, bla bla bla.

BUT, then they come out with these (video below) for retail sale. Battery life: 2 weeks. Not fragile. Can do anything in them, play sports, run, whatever.

What the hell am I missing here? The "power laces" even sound the same!!!! And there are lights!!!! (although I'm guessing the bottom light doesn't stay on continuously)

A bunch of miserable lying a55holes. I still believe they could release more of the Mags if they wanted to. But they don't. Because they're a55holes.

Is it me or the music in the background sounds like a "Troll" music :lol

i saw a video of the designers saying they started development of the shoes because of a signed petition of 30000 people back in 2004
why dont we start a petition asking for Mcfly's jacket lol? from nike or jordan of course

If someone could convince HC to do the body panels right. You'd have a real nice jacket for $200 or so.

I'm surprised that they didn't make the lights come on automatically once you put your foot in and the lacing sequence stops. Missed opportunity.

Yeah, because all the animations seemed to suggest the lights would come on as the final stage. Even the shoes MJF wore October 2015 (wow, almost a year already!) seemed to light once the were done.

in this video we can clearly see the wires into the laces at 3'17" ...
(I like one thing about these EARL shoes : the lights are well integrated into a semi transparent plastic... otherwise, i see nothing ^^)

Hit the nail on the head right there! Nike is maintaining the exclusivity of them, and offering objections those in the know can see through like Casper. A point worthy of noting is Nike doesn't own any of their factories. It helps them to limit their exposure on work conditions. But, it also means a third party made the shoes (at least the 2011 for sure, but probably the PL too). They may have cooked them up in their prototype kitchen, but even the Beers interview about the 2011's included her trips to China while in R&D. Read - China, the magical land where patents don't exist. The factory would be wary of violating their contract with Nike, which undoubtedly says they are not to make any others. I could see them spiriting blueprints to a sister factory who "doesn't exactly get them right" ;-). Plausible deniability is maintained, and China marches to its usual drumbeat.

PL will be a reality, but do you really want their slacker attempt to deliver? Sounds like a whiney exgirlfriend.

In the Jordan world there is sneakers known as "Gray Market"
Basically, Nike/Jordan request a number of Jordan shoes to be made at a factory in Asia, lets they want 30k.
So, they get made, nike/Jordan are happy, they get shipped, etc...
But for certain highly anticipated or hyped Jordan shoes, someone with connections to the that factory request to make, lets say 100 extra pairs. Shoes are made in the same factory, with same tools, material, etc... But the shoes are not authorized by Nike/Jordan.
Are they authentic, are they fake, its in a gray area... Thus Gray market shoes.

With these Mags. I have a feeling there is tight security but maybe after a year or so, we will see

The real NIKE MAGs were main in Taiwan, not mainland China. That would probably be why the 2011s didn't leak and neither has this new 2016 version.

Or just lower the price of the V3
Much easier :)

That would be sweet! I'd like to see these under $350.

I can see the V3 becoming an HC product, but they will probably be downgraded in terms of overall appearance just like the V2s were.

If they replicated the 2011 from an actual 2011 MAG then they were made in Vietnam. That is what the Nike tag inside of my V3 says. Nike has a "transparency" website that will allow you to identify all of the factory's in a given country that they contract with. You really are not dealing with that many factories, maybe 30 - 40 in the aggregate. It really shouldn't be that hard to tract the specific factory. The Beers interview would suggest it was China. Some nonsense about workers "wear testing" with drapes over the shoes, lol. Like suddenly seeing your coworker wearing booties over their shoes wouldn't prompt you to ask what's up.

Repeat after me, "$15 per pair."

The 2016 from a 2011?
Nike used the original 1989 shoe to make the 2011. There were some things they admit that they employed creative license to do. The texture of the mid sole is an example.
My V1 had Vietnam in the tag as well.

huh? I don't follow "The 2016 from the 2011?" My point being that if david's story is true, then they bought a 2011 and made copies. If my belief is true then they are an affiliate company who "didn't quite get it right".
