THe only one that isn't commpletely lame is Uhura's earpiece, and that looks nearly identical to the original. As to the others... have these guys ever SEEN the show? :rolleyes

THe one labeled "Bones Medical Tricorder" is odd, probably it's just the scanner part. Toy descriptions have already indicated a tricorder with "opening doors" which sounds like something like the old version.

For the love of god, finally some pics, I agree with ya phase pistol, but i'm thinking thats a scanner of the medical tricorder and not just the tricorder itself like the description says on trekmovie

I'm kinda diggin' the comm but how the hell is THAT supposed to be a tricorder???

Yikes. Looks like a modified pepper mill. :unsure

My first impression of these props, not including the virtually unchanged earpiece, is that they look cheap. Maybe the communicator is a barcode scanner too!

The pull ring is the giveaway. :lol

But seriously... if that's still possible at this point... :rolleyes

Comm... ugh. I guess the "Windows Mobile Inside" sticker is on the OTHER side.

Penis pu- , er, "Bones' Tricorder" (heh heh :love), well that's got to be just the scanner part I think. But who the hell knows.

Uhura earpiece... even THAT is a disappointment. Couldn't they have come up with something ELSE to leave alone? :lol

Also, putting the insignia delta on the communicator is lame lame LAME beyond the power of words to express. And with the comm flipped open, the insignia will be upside down! :lol

I have here a top secret photo of the actual tricorder prop from the movie...

Actually, I'll give the communicator a chance. That looks kinda cool. Modern materials, but retro shape.

I have to say when I first saw it I hated it with the white-hot fury of a billion suns :lol but after a few moments I realized that the Communicator is the way it is because of modern industrial design... we all have "hand props" which we carry around every day, phones, cameras, computers... and these have to inform what the new movie's props would look like. We're lucky the damn thing doesn't have chrome bevels everywhere.

I guess. I mean I still think they're disappointing... looking like a first year ID student whipped them up over an all-nighter. BUT... have to see the movie I guess. :unsure

I just don't quite get it yet I suppose, the design thrust of the new movie. The Bridge and this communciator look like they came out of "Galaxy Quest" (or an Apple Store)... yet this scanner is a plexi tube with coiled wires inside and lathed aluminum parts! Teh hell? :confused (I'm almost inclined to think it's the hypospray...)

I remember Wrath of Khan's hand props were pretty weak but I still managed to enjoy it. :lol
