New Trek Props On Display

This movie is gonna rock, and I can't WAIT to talk about how much I want replicas of the gadgets - and not be able to afford them!:lol:lol:lol

Either way, I will be at the midnight showing, but my Star Trek shirt on!

Well, McCoy's scanner looks like it should be pretty cheap, if only we could identify all the parts. (Hint hint.) I'm 90% sure there isn't a custom bit on that thing.

Looking at it more closely, the black-capped part with the mysterious writing seems to have a threaded metal bit inside the tube with two black wires soldered to it. Also, the end cap with the hashing and writing seems to be a different piece from the rest of the cap--a big push button, maybe?

And that metal loop and metal plate on the other end look like some kind of syringe plunger, either of the medical or cake icing variety, but an hour or more on Google has turned up nothing that matched exactly.

Well the person on this board who is working on the movie, did give the hint for the Communicator: Think i-phone. So there probably aren't any visible controls until it lights up.

David.
I bet the INSIDE of the COM is BLUE SCREEN.

The lens is well..a lens that records and sends an image.

Hello everyone, this is my first post besides my introduction and I hope there are many more.

I have given a lot of thought about McCoy's scanner and to me, the bottom looks very similar to a click on, or clicky tail cap to a small flashlight. I havn't been able to identify the exact one, but they normally boast the company name in a similar configuration around the button.

In this photo you can clearly see threads and the part of the flashlight bottom that would press against the battery.

I am still trying to ID the exact flashlight but googling "tail cap" yielded all these pics. I also found some pretty cheap caps on Ebay.

For the love of god, finally some pics, I agree with ya phase pistol, but i'm thinking thats a scanner of the medical tricorder and not just the tricorder itself like the description says on trekmovie

it looks more like the old universal translater than a tricorder!

I have a couple of pepper grinders, including the one they must've used for the prop. It must not have taken a lot to put a spinning motor in there, stuck an axle through the hold, and fixed a "sensor" on the end. Kind of a nice nod to D. Kelley's original hand scanner.
