New to RPF - Catwoman costume project

My honest opinion?
I think it looks....like a costume....in a bad way.....
The mask is terrible IMO, and something about the fabric rubs me the wrong way (maybe it's the model wearing it...she could use a few more pounds in her south pole).
I think a deeper color purple in a synthetic leather would look more realistic and less costume-like.
This is a perfect example of how some things look GREAT on the comic book page in a cartoon, but translates terrible in reality....IMO...
Obi-Wan is right...the League of Heroes forum is going to be the BEST place on the internet for comic book character costumes.
sadly I have to agree withyour better half - it looks strange. Maybe it's the lightning or else... Must be darker the fabric, less shiny more dull.

Third agree. I think spandex is the wrong way to go here..... milliskin (2 layers?) or a stretch vinyl/pvc type (not too glossy) would fit better. The mask has no shape- it needs more definition which could be achieved easily with some vinyl as well. Spandex just shows too much "through", you know? Too thin. The pattern and idea are the bees' knees though....

I have to do more research on this. I am going to ask if they have any other materials they can do it in that is thicker and less shiney

After seeing "the senator's" hush-catwoman... http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=27405&highlight=catwoman+hush (pics are down in the thread but I'm sure someone has some)

It's hard for me to think of that costume any other way. Her suit is kick ass. And her goggles are awesome too. No idea where she got her stuff from though... read through that thread and possibly shoot her a PM. Although I haven't seen her on here in a long time.

I think she made her 'Hush' Catwoman suit - I think we contacted her once already and learned that it was a one-off and she can't make another unless she had the model right in front of her to measure and make it totally custom.
There are a ton of options out there for this - you just have to do the research and start asking around.
After seeing the fabric on that thing posted before, I really believe that a leather or leather-like material may be more suitable for a real-world translation of the costume you are shooting for.
Good news is, there are already people out there who speacialize in full-body 'sexy' leather suits. If you contacted them with a request for a specific color and design you may get lucky and find a maker who can accomidate your needs.
Best part is - you won't have to worry about the boots and belt because you already have that taken care of and will work just as good (if not better) with a leather catsuit as it would have with the fabric version...

So I was being bad at work and instead of actually working I was doing research for a place to make my costume. I found this site from searching on Ebay. These people put the black catwoman suit up for bidding but also put their website up. I checked it out and it seems they make custom costumes so I emailed them and asked if they would be able to do the purple version. Here is a picture of the black on they did. Oh the website is http://www.heroes-in-tights.com

I am kind of having second thoughts on the purple. I like the way the black looks on the model of the pcture I last posted. It looks good and it would cost me less to get the 4 way lycra ( the recdent picture I posted) than to get the purple mili-skin. Plus the hood looks A LOT better on the black one.

I actually think if done right the purple would be really unique. Even such a deep purple that's almost black I think would really have an "Oh! That's new" effect.

I agree. I do think the black does look much better than the purple ones you showed us but if you could find a purple fabric that's so dark it's almost black, that could be a great look.

I also have to agree with the other comments of going with a leather or pleather like material. It may be more expensive and not as comfortable but I think the final look will be much more realistic than going with a spandex or lycra.

I think I am pretty content with the lycra this company uses. I am going to ask for color samples before I make any major decisions.

I think I am just going to go ahead and get the black one. The purple to me is too light. plus the black will look better on me.
