New to RPF - Catwoman costume project

alienskin_goggles.jpg

I found these online. I kind of like them. They are affordable. I don't think I would try to make them look like the exact cat woman goggles. They are called Alien Skin Goggles. Let me know what you all think please.

If you like to turn them in Catwoman goggles, you'll surely have to sand them to the shape needed (lenses certainly removed) and then sculp the spikes on the edges...
I would keep looking, but customizing would ideal - since you're a everything or nothing gal ;)

If you need help getting some awesome goggles. I have a buddy that did mine for my fiance. here is a pic of his work. he can customize to your liking. here is a pic. let me know

It would be awesome if you could give me his contact info. Are those the ones he made for your fiance?

The largest size zippers anyone makes are #10. Try here-

http://www.zippersource.com/store/

These guys are great, they'll make whatever length you want, whatever color you want and any slide/pull you want and there's no minimum.
Just choose the options you want, and it adds it all to your cart. In 2 weeks or less you'll have your zipper and they're the best quality available.

Cowls are just sewn material, you find a pattern and do it. Pretty simple in the realm of sewn garments. If it's something stretchy it doesn't even have to fit your head perfectly. Somebody here might be able to help you out with it if they have an industrial sewing machine.

That zipper site is handy, I might just have to use that to get the right combination of zipper and pull tab for my space suit.

Re: New to RPF

If you have the coconuts and the body to wear that..

One - High five

Two - I want to shake your boy friends hand LoL

All in all what made you choose this style of costume??

The body part is in the making lol. I chose this particular version of catwoman because by far it's my favorite out of all the different versions. I chose to do it in purple because a lot of people do this costume in black and I like to be different.

So I stumbled across a website of a guy that makes custom Armour, etc. I seen that he made a custom Hallie Berry cat woman mask for someone and it looked awesome. I emailed this dude explaining what I am looking for and if he is able to do the open faced cat woman mask and what materials he used. I also asked if he was able to possibly do my gloves. Now its time to wait for a reply. :0)

If you haven't found your fabric yet you might want to try this site http://www.denverfabrics.com/ they have a wide selection and they will send out swatches too.

I would consider Denver Fabrics a last resort really. They are the same company as Fashionfabricsclub and take FORRRRREEEVVVVERRR to send anything. Completely inefficient. Check out this thread on online fabric stores.

That is one handy link sir! I have been hard pressed to find this selection of pulls online. I know where to go in the NYC garment district for them, but I don't live in NYC.

You don't need an industrial sewing machine for this. Not unless you're using heavyweight leather, and then you'd be better off with an industrial walking foot.

I had no idea about Denver Fabrics, the only dealing I've ever had with them was in ordering a swatch of fabric but I never actually ordered anything more. Good to know, luckily I live in LA so if I really needed to I could always visit the fabric district even though I hate Downtown/LA proper.

Don't get me wrong. I have gotten some great stuff from them. Like when I did The Batman's Luke ROTJ cloak, I found pretty much the perfect color cotton/wool crepe for $4 a yd. I've also gotten some crap polyester that they were marketing as 100% linen though, so buyer beware. The main problem I have is wait time. They often take 2 weeks just to get your order in the mail. You can opt for their "expedited" option for a not insubstantial fee and they will get it out in 4 days or so. Still a ridiculous amount of time.

Okay. Sorry to derail the thread. Catwoman. Purrrrrr!
