The only problem with that is when making a close-enough is almost as expensive as the real thing and making the costume twice will put you on the street. I'm working on one right now on short notice that's running me as much as costumes I've spent over a year on, with a time limit to make matters worse.
If that last sentence was intended for me, I actually need it by the end of February. I get what you mean about the availability. In my case, of the only two parts of the costume I still need, one is optional because there are two different versions in different episodes and I already bought the less cool looking version, and the other will cost the same amount of money no matter the quality, so I'll get it done right and not have to worry about upgrading. This one was one of those times where my lack of self control gets the better of me. I had no intention of putting the costume together, but then it was suggested that I may be able to do it and I go all out to finish it on short notice. Luckily it's turning out pretty well so far.
But yea, it's always good to allow lots of time for a project. I think the minimum I usually need to get something done right without being constantly stressed is 4 months.
Your belt should be there by Friday.
Thanks again for the opportunity to make something new and interesting. I hope it works well for you.

has this link already been discussed? This gall has a similar costume - well the black version - same goggles, almost... ok not really

I haven't this link till today. I would love to have goggles like that. Just not creative enough to do it myself.
You might surprise your self. Get a cheap pair of sunglasses and some sculpting epoxy and see what you can do. The arms can be removed and wire rings fabbed to fit the screw holes with elastic sewn to that for the head band.
