New Star Trek TOS Phaser coming November 2014

Starting to sound like these have a mind of it's own.

I had another odd experience too. I took the phaser through each setting 0 - 9 and then went straight back to 0. When I pulled the trigger, instead of getting the "click" sound, I got what sounded like the bridge communicator or some other random bridge sound. I turned the knob away from 0 and it went away. I tried recreating it but couldnt.

If you're on setting 0 and are holding the phaser tilted left or right, it will go straight to the bridge sounds when you pull the trigger without the click. It won't do that with any of the other gestures, I've tried.

Center emitter on the P2 should not be loose. Regarding the issue you described of the P2 emitter not firing, I had that happen to me last night for first time.

Hmm, then it is going back. I didn't bump it or hit it to cause it to come loose, and noticed that it looked crooked all of a sudden as I was holding it and looking down at the top of the emitter. If you move it from side to side, you can make it move inside.

Happned to me as well.

Had to reseat the phaser 1.

It was acting really wonky last night

Mine did that once. I thought it was possibly the pins not being aligned, but I had to power down and back up and it started working properly again. It hasn't done it again since then.

Mine did it the first time, and I reset it, but it did it again later when I took the P1 off and tried just putting it back in again. Between the loose center emitter, the P1 acting up and the clear coat/paint blob on the side of the P1 (plus the chips in the edge of the P1 metal trim) I think I'll contact ST.com today about sending it back and getting a replacement.

The P-2 emitter I am sure will strip in time as the MR's did.

I would leave it in one place because eventually it will strip

WTF? Is that some sort of easter egg?

Also, I haven't even tried using this as a remote, I've just been messing with it so far. I contacted TG and got an RMA for the one I have with the broken emitter.

No Easter Egg, just the Enterprise gesture FX.

I love the morse code Easter Egg! I can't believe that hasn't been broken yet.

Yes, and I'm ashamed to admit that I didn't pick up on it immediately considering I spent 6 years as a morse code interceptor in the Army. But hey, that was 25 years ago.

In any case, here's the first message I got when I hit the mode button 8 times...

"You're dead Jim"

For those of you interested in the morse, it's here:

-.-- --- ..- .-. . / -.. . .- -.. / .--- .. --

There's a longer message that I'm still trying to decipher. I read somewhere that there are 10 morse messages hidden on them...

Second message:

"Highly illogical"

Again with the morse:

.... .. --. .... .-.. -.-- / .. .-.. .-.. --- --. .. -.-. .- .-..

Third message:

"Set phasers to stun"

Again with the morse:
... . - / .--. .... .- ... . .-. ... / - --- / ... - ..- -.

Thanks for deciphering.
It comes way too fast, I'd have to record and slow it waaaay down to get it written down.

I am curious which pins are what?
Perhaps if one wanted to disable the vibration motor you could block one pin.

From what I can tell it's coming out at about Delta 15. That's surprisingly fast considering I had to learn how to copy at Delta 20 in the Army.

I tried to see if there was someplace you could upload a recording and get an auto decoding but did not find anything.

Yeah, I had to do it the old fashioned way. Not fun after 25 years. Just had to let it go and rely on muscle memory. I guess all those months strapped to a morse trainer did some good. If the apocalypse ever happens, I'll be able to fall back on my skills at archaic forms of information ;).

There was a POW in the Hanoi Hilton that blinked his eyes during a forced propaganda interview to send the message.. "torture".
Never know when it could come in handy when only the most primitive forms of communication can exist.
Can't figure out why Capt. Pike on TOS never clued into it. LOL

I recieved the first of my two phasers today.

Boy, am I impressed. I've paid waaaaayyyy more for far less. I haven't charged it yet, but my brain kept going "pew pew". Well, the TOS phaser equivalent of "pew pew" anyway. :)

Charge up the P1 within earshot and when it's charged up you'll hear the female voice telling you it's ready.

Here are a few pics of mine. SUPER nice!! These guys are amazing at customer service too, TOP NOTCH all the way around!
