Hi, I just decided to join after having spent countless hours over the last few months browsing through the forums. The classifies were always referenced and I didn't realize the only reason I couldn't see them was because I wasn't a member. Now I am and am amazed! I'm an attorney by trade, but have a tendency to build various items from time to time. Only recently have I had an interest in props. A buddy of mine has commissioned me to build a Han in Carbonite, so now there's no turning back . . .

Hi folks. I've been lurking for a few years. I had an account years ago as Lucius Fox but I cant seem to get it back up and running so I thought I'd just open a new account. I'm a tool and die maker and machinist and I've recently discovered 3D printing. So many of the best projects I've come across link back to this forum so I thought it was time to rejoin.

Hello all! I found my way here via the Googles. I've decided to do something with my life/free time and decided to get into prop building. It originally started with a pipe dream to start a YouTube channel following in the ways of RocketJump and Corridor Digital but I figured I didn't have the man power to help run the channel and do necessary things like editing not to mention the bankroll to back it. Not to mention everyone and their mother has done it at some point. But I love building things and playing with power tools so why not combine the two and do the channel that way and not sink over five grand into pre-built props like Airsoft guns. Really looking forward to seeing what everyone can build and getting to know everyone!

Hi everyone, not sure how much Ill be able to contribute to all of this, but I have recently started getting into foam building after roughly 2 years of strong intent.
I'm a dc guy, but I am not against marvel. i may just end up asking a lot of questions as my first project, (a batman cowl). did not quite go as planned.
Maybe Ill post some pictures and get some advice.

Thanks everyone!

Hello everyone. My name is radhekstorm from Indonesia.

I started to like cosplays since 2008. My kind of costumes are mechs, monsters, and tokusatsu heroes such as Power Rangers and Masked Rider. I'm currently working on Gipsy Danger costume. Expected to be finished by the end of August. I hope we all can share our interests together and help others with their projects. Thank You

Here are some pics : IMG_20160501_123547.jpgIMG_20160501_155353.jpgIMG_20160502_012139.jpgIMG_20160503_111702.jpgIMG_20160505_223602.jpgIMG_20160507_074219.jpg

Hello,

I've been on here at least a year or more, but I haven't had any projects to show on here. I finally have a real workshop and the first project I'm taking on is building a Proton Pack from the new Ghostbusters movie...on a budget. I'm thinking of posting a thread for it.
I also just started helping out a new friend on modding a Power Rangers Saba blade. He wants it to look like Kryptonite or like the unstable Kylo Ren blade. I'm playing with silicone to see how I can make that happen. If anyone has any tips on that please let me know.

I'm really all over the place with what I'm into, but I'd say mainly it's MCU and Marvel Legends at the moment, though I'm always on the look out for odd bits of 90s Mighty Morphin merch.

Can't wait to really get involved with the community here!

Hi.

I've been lurking on the RPF for a few weeks and finally decided to make a profile.
I'm a really bigger tinker and I love to work on things and (attempt to make things). I've wanted to for a while to start cosplay and I heard that this was the place to go. You have a great community here with a lot of supporting people.

I'm really hoping to get some help getting started. I also like meeting people that have similar interest too. So if you want you are more then welcome to message me if you like.

I found this a little while ago when I watched Adam Savage's One Day Builds of the DL-44 Blaster and he mentioned this website, and some of his other projects on Tested he has also mentioned this site. I have no experience or knowledge with the prop making process, but I hope to learn.

Hi guys sorry for the late introduction

My name is darryl, I'm 35 and i live in south wales UK.

I am a big star wars fan, which led me to this site, i must say there are a lot of talented people here.

I have been collecting star wars replicas and props for some time, after joining forums like this one, i have come to realise that, the replicas and props made by fans are better then Master Replica i.e. fx lightsabers so I've started buying replica hilts that are more movie accurate and installing the electronics myself.
I'm always looking around for the best replicas and props for my collection, also some advice.

i have built a man cave in my garden, for the interior I'm going to try and replicate part of the inside of the millennium falcon (much to my wife's dismay) but all of this is on the back burner at the moment as i have broken my leg.

i can't wait to see some of the work you guys have done and speaking to you
thank you for the invite and sorry for my grammar

Hola :) I've had an account on here since 2014 but haven't really used it. Hoping I will be better about posting my build progress for upcoming projects (listed in signature below). Primarily into costumes, and more into sewing than props. Tend to do comic book characters the most, with a sprinkling of movie, TV, video game, or mythology based characters here and there. Also very much into fitness to help achieve a more accurate body shape for the characters I portray.

Past costumes included X-23, Black Cat, Wonder Woman, Zoey (Left 4 Dead), Alex de Large, Blodeuwedd, Selene, Artemis, Cruella de Vil - many of which will be revised or updated in the near future.

Hi I'm a new member been lurking for a couple weeks so much info here ! I'm a single apartment guy with my wife, cat and soon to be daughter but moving up to some thing with a bit more space soon home to carve out some room for myself to tinker. Wish me luck !

Hi everyone. I've checked out the site off and on for a while now; finally decide to sign up because why not?

I'm a cook by trade, but also a big geek across the board. Not sure what I'm going to make yet (aside from lunch), but there's such an absurd amount of information here I'm sure I'll be able to work out how to do it. Thinking about foam builds, maybe.

Hello all!

I heard about the site from watching Tested.com videos and love the idea of making replica props at home to display. I'm fairly new to all this so I will need advice and figured this would be the best place to learn.

Currently in the process of a low cost BB8 build. Everything was going well until I sanded down the wood putty and found out it's really tough to sand down that material to a near perfect sphere... Now I know. Anyway, here is my progress so far. A little more sanding and paint is next!

Currently working on a BB8 replica from cheap materials from a how-to video. Everything was going great until I realized sanding down wood putty to a near perfect sphere is hard... Oh well. Here is my progress so far!

Hey RPF community! Long time lurker and first time poster here. Now that our new company is operational, I figured it was time to post up and introduce ourselves!

I work for VFX Foam out of Ferndale, WA and we're using some interesting technology to create props and other stuff out of EPS foam. We have the ability to 3D scan objects and scale or modify them before being cut out on our hot wire cutter with spindle or 4axis CNC foam router. Its pretty amazing what you can make with these new machines and big blocks of foam!

As an example, here's a pic of an Aliens Xenomorph head that we cut out. We're getting ready to prep it for a hard coat before painting it up for a young kid to wear for Halloween. We can't wait to see him scare the pants off people with this thing!

Thanks and we're looking forward to being contributing members on the site!

Hello everyone!

I am very new to costume/prop making, but I have put in countless hours of research into how things are made. I've always been in awe at conventions by all the cool cosplayers and all the hard work they put in to produce these amazing pieces. I have always wanted to jump in and feel like now is better than any. I've got a couple of ideas brewing and hope to actually follow through with them. Here's to learning from everyone here and hopefully sharing what I've done!

Hi all,

Long time forum reader, first time member.

My interest in particular props (mostly police insignia) stems from a hobby I had while an undegrad student - I managed to build a collection of obsolete and current police insignia for every jurisdiction in Australia at one point, as the way Australian policing works, you don't have the option of buying uniform. If you wear it, other than underpants and socks, its handed to you by the state. Luckily, I had quite a few friends in quite a few states who were serving cops and were able to help me out. Interesting intersection, but the delineation has always been clear - no impersonation, the collection and costume items are regarded and treated very differently.

Always a big fan of police shows, and not being in the U.S., my standard go-to for parties and such (and being quite safe in doing so, as I don't live in the U.S., but rather, Australia and Europe) has been U.S. police characters - big fan of True Detective at present (to those who are hating on season 2, you're comparing apples and oranges).

I've had the fortune over the years to learn the ins and outs of what could be done and what could not be done legally as I went on to get a couple of law degrees - meaning, in other words, I don't buy cheap knock off badges which get people in trouble, nor do I touch stolen property. I got to know one U.S. based propmaster for TV and film productions and learned the processes and procedures involved for making TV shows over there, down to badge number selection. I was fascinated reading a thread on here about the inconsistency which some buying prop Louisiana badges for season 1 of True Detective, and my hunt for prop/replica badges from season 2 is now in full swing.

Hellooo Everyone, I found this site while I was searching on how to make a muscle bodysuit. I figured I would not spend 1000, bucks on purchasing one. I stumbled
upon this site from google. Thank you google.
Everyone here is amazingly creative. I've only made a few Halloween costumes as a hobby and for my kid so I'm no pro by any means. But I love costumes and creating
and could use any help and insight from all you amazing people!
I've only made a predator body shirt, hands & shoes, all from latex, and help from a few members. I thought I signed up a long time ago but the robot couldn't find me in the system so here I am again registering . I hope to make lots of costumes and props to go with them so I look stellar at Halloween or whenever there's a need for a costume.
Thanks for having me! I can't wait to see all of your projects to be aww-inspired! Cheers. Denise
