Hey all. My name is Riley and I'm new here, I like long walks along the beach and just about anything that has to do with swords and lightsabers! Long time collector of movie-based collectibles and recently found this great forum when I started looking into custom props and toying with the idea of making some myself. Very happy to be welcomed onto a forum among all the great craftsmen/women of this site.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi. I've been looking at this site for a year finally Joined, I'm a lover of warhammer, old sci-fi, Dr who, supernatural and Sherlock. At the minute my only plans are a simple replica of the colt from supernatural, a replica of the Ray gun used in my chemical romance's na na na music video. Most of my plans are props, I'm bad at costumes. Anyways hi

Hi everyone!

I'm a Graphic Design student and I've found this website a few times when looking at props/costumes for ideas for conventions etc and I've finally decided to join up. Finally decided to jump on the wagon.

Hi everyone...

I stumbled across this site while looking at images of Star Destroyer model kits while watching ANH clips and listening to the Imperial March on repeat. At the time, I was only familiar with the ones mass produced by Ertl. I had no idea what shenanigans were afoot on this site (and a couple others). Needless to say I was awestruck. Amazing work. Bravo... I want in.

I've been building models for the better part of 30 years. From plastic airplanes, cars, boats, to wooden ships, R/C... even modifying cars and making custom parts. It's something that soothes me... as frustrating as this hobby can be at times, I find it soothing. It's always been something done "in-between" other things... Well, recently, those 'other things', mainly the job I had, is no more. I worked for a very popular brand of fruity computer firm that had a 'clean desk policy', which I understand, but I have ideas that need pen and paper!! Very depressing situation at the time and no creativity.

Faced with "what to do", I decided to build models again... but this time, I'm going pro with it. ;)

I'm mulling 2 somewhat interesting scratch builds.
Build #1. Ancient Greek Trireme Olympia. Undecided scale, but it's going to be big. Based on actual blueprints and photos (the museum isn't far from me).
Build #2. Studio Scale 4' ANH Star Destroyer Devestator

Somehow I'm going to turn what soothes me into something that can also pay my bills.

I'll be down in the studio scale section if anyone needs me.

Hello everyone. My name is Bill and I'm a prop-aholic. Glad to be a member finally. I've been interested in props and special effects since I was a kid. I started building my own props back in the 1980s. My first full scratch built prop was a BTTF Hoverboard back before the internet or DVD age when all you had to go off of was a paused VHS tape where the image flickered at best. Interested in various props. Building an R2D2, Jurassic cryo can plus lots of prop weapons. I've also got an interest in large vehicle props and have been working on building a Christine clone out of a 1958 Plymouth for years. I've also been working on an Elvira replica T-Bird for my fiancee. Then for fun bought a 94 Explorer to do the Jurassic Park truck thing to. Look forward to learning a lot for everyone here.

Hi everyone! My name is Blaine! I'm an avid 80's Slasher movie fan as well as 80's movies in general. I am new to prop collection so I don't have anything to share at this point. This forum is absolutely awesome! Thanks :)

Hey all, my name is Steve and I found this forum through my infatuation with everything Breaking Bad. Some folk have put together some outstanding collections of props and memorabilia. Wish I had come to the party a bit sooner but I'd gathered a few things before discovering the BB prop thread. I've already got leads on things or have already found items due to the members on that thread. Some have done some outstanding work recreating props from the greatest show ever(Sir Anthony Hopkins words not mine;) I look forward to continuing to revisit BB with everyone on there. Thanks! 20131031_120008.jpg

My name is Sarah I am a veterinary student from Texas. I first started attending conventions and making costumes in 2010. I am a fan of Star Trek, Stargate, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Firefly among others. I have gone to every Dallas Comic Con (that company does 3 a year) since 2010 except 1...Vet school kept me away because I had a lot of tests that week :-(

I am a member of the USS Joshua a sci-fi club based out of Irving. A wonderful group of really talented awesome people.

Here are some of my costumes:

I am on the far left dressed as River from Firefly. I sewed that dress myself and my Aunt hand crocheted the vest.

Hello all, my name is Anders. I'm from Denmark and when I'm not on the RPF I'm a teacher of German and Danish (So if you need any translation done just ask). I've recently started collecting props. I'm mostly in to sci-fi guns/weapons.

I started my collection with a Coyle Blade Runner Blaster - most beautiful prop ever! I'am planning on getting many more different props down the road... Next prop to pick up will most likely be the Factory Entertainment MIB Standard Sidearm.

My Coyle (and two of my childhood heroes):

Hi everyone!
I'm from Trinidad, and i would like the opportunity to make new friends and share ideas here. im not experienced in costume/propmaking or even 3d design but i am familiar in art and drawings.i owe that skill to my late father, whom he and his brothers have artistic tastes.i like designing costumes, having done a few carnival costumes for some small bands in the past.I lost my way in the mundane world of work and i was drawn back to art and costumes while following a UDreplicas batman suit.lolzee. im here now and i would love to share ideas with everyone.thanks all and have a great time in here!!!!!

Hello!
I live in Canada, and have been doing cosplay for the last several years. I am a big sci-fi nut, and that is where much of my inspiration comes from. My biggest success so far has been my Raven Guard space marine from the warhammer 40k universe. I am currently building ODST armour from Halo. I love building things, and learning new skills. I look forward to seeing some awesome projects on here.

Hi I'm Juno and I'm from the Philippines. I like skateboarding, sneakers, sci fi, model kits, action figs, movies and comics. Recently I've been learning about modding the Nike Mags and actually just placed an order for the V2's myself.(Im quite inspired in what the others have done here like jedifyfe and that's the reason I joined this forum.) I was wondering how the mags would look in this costume i made out of cardboard. It's me on the right. Awesome site and keep up the good work I've seen so much good stuff here. :)

Hello,
My name is Nate. I joined because every time I search for something I'm building I end up here. My nephew and I enjoy building props and costumes, and have learned a lot from this forum(outside looking in). We're currently building a GK Blaster, we previously built a Thor hammer (steel, heavy), Ninja Turtle and Batman( floor foam). I really enjoy seeing all the cool things people build and the great info you find here. Thanks for reading, Nate.

Hiya, I'm Danielle, new to cosplay and prop making, but loving every second of it ;) I've been lurking around here appreciating everyone's incredible works of art and i got super inspired to FINALLY finish my N7 build.

Trying to make an armor build based off the Play Arts Kai female shepard figure. Currently making the helmet, and planning out the armor stuff.

I post pictures, videos and QUESTIONS on instagram (name is FelCandy) and follow lots of people who fabricate armor and make costumes and props, so if you want me to follow, send me a message on here.

I am thinking about starting a thread for my build, but want to browse a little more to be sure that some of my questions haven't been addressed already haha

Anyways, just wanted to say hi to all the amazing artists on here. so... HI! <3

Hello all!

my name is Rory and like many of you, I'm sure, growing up I made Freddy gloves from aluminum cans, duct tape rocketeer pack from 2 liter bottles, Planet of the Apes mask from foil & felt etc... Lol so naturally I love to come here and see how the masters do it the more "convincing" way with such imaginative resources! Although I have learned much from reading through the threads, Im a greenhorn to this craft and have plenty of room for flubs, do overs, and paying my dues ;). Thanks for having me and I look forward to communicating with you!

Hello everyone! I'm Dan. After many years of watching RPF, from afar, I decided I better get into the community. I have a mixed history of prop/sfx things. I'm mostly self taught through the years contributing props and designs to various haunted houses, small movies, etc. I've spent the last 12 years or so working on degrees in Electrical Engineering. I'm close to finishing my dissertation for my PhD, and I have been in the robotics field for roughly 9-15 years, depending on what is considered a robot. Recently I realized my talents in the field of prop making and sfx have been all but destroyed through years of theoretical and practical education in engineering. So joining RPF officially, is just a chance to force myself back into trying and see what I can do. Most of my monthly paychecks go to tools, parts, or a lifetime stock in smooth-on containers. Much of my newer skills involve amateur gunsmith and machining. I have professional experience in controls, motion control, and electronics. Stay tuned....thanks for listening...
