Found the forum when searching for Groundhog Day flip clock stuff. Got my first Panasonic RC-6025 then had to keep trying to make it perfect and ended up with seven clocks. Now deep into restoration and "flipping" these and the model clocks from "Back To The a Future" (RC-6015) and most recently the clock from "No Country For Old Men" (RC-6003). I have discovered that I love messing with these old things and have spent more than I make on the resale. The retro stuff from the 80s seems to be making a comeback. Anyway... Happy 12th Anniversary of the release of the movie Groundhog Day... My favorite.

Hello Everyone!

i discovered this forum while i was looking at some movie prop sites, and decided to sign up after seeing an incredible star destroyer build by monsieur tox, wow is that thing cool!

anyways, i have been building models for most of my life, starting when i was a kid, and then i got away from it for a while but returned about 15 years ago. i have always built cars and trucks, but seeing all of these great sci-fi builds that are happening here i think i`m inspired to get into something.

my work has been featured in a few mags, ive written articles for model cars mag, scale auto mag, and a 1:1 car mag called "amuisin` cruisin` (sorry the"s" "letter next to x" on my keyboard is broken) i have also appeared in the book "styrene stars" by Virgil Suares. i have a couple of websites up, i`ll post links to them so you can check them out if you would like. here they are....

the first one is a site for my finished work, honestly i havent updated it in a long time. it is what it is....
http://1613autoworks.synthasite.com/

the second one, is still under construction, but it will be a tutorial, or "how to" site
http://bryansmodelingcorner.synthasite.com/

and finally, if you would like to see my automotive modeling endeavors, heres a link to my fotki page that has most of my finished builds, and some work in progress....which includes a replica of the car from the movie "kingpin" starring woody harrelson, and bill murray.
Public Home | BRYANM666 | Fotki.com, photo and video sharing made easy.

like i said, all of my work has been in the automotive side of modeling, and after seeing some of the work here, i think im inspired to do something sci-fi. im not sure what i will do yet, nothing huge, something small to get me started.

thanks for having me here, im sure i am going to enjoy it!
cheers

Hello!

I stumbled across this forum while doing research for a miniature doll library I've started. So far I've made the play script Sarah uses in Labyrinth, and a blank version of The Neverending Story prop book from the movie. It was my search for the Book of Shadows from Charmed that brought me here, but I'm also on the hunt for the book from Practical Magic, and may add a few from Harry Potter. The idea is to have a mini library made up entirely of books that exist only as part of the fantasy of the stories, but are pretty iconic in their own right, and will be instantly recognized in a display.

Aside from what I was looking for, this forum is proving to be quite the treasure trove of artistry. I'm enjoying browsing just for the sake of it!

Best of luck to all the crafters!

Hi all!

My name's Gav. I've been browsing the forums for the past couple of months since deciding I'm going to build a Dark Knight suit (mmm, original!) a couple of months ago, but I figured I'd sign up to share my progress.

It seems like a great community here and I hope to get involved in some of the competitions. Anyway, nice to meet you!

Hi there,

my name is Lukas. I'm a Star Wars fan since I saw Luke's Lightsaber on a cinema-screen for the first time. I was twelve then and started collecting Star Wars figures for six years I think. Than I forgot about the fun of collecting Star Wars items.
Until last year, when my girlfriend gave me lightsaber-replica as a birthday-present. It was an ANH Luke Lightsaber Force FX with removable blade. My girlfriend encouraged me to renew my passion for Star Wars.

And now one year later I've done my first ANH Luke belt, got my hands on a real vintage Graflex IV and am converting it into an ANH Luke lightsaber.

Pics for these items will follow in other threads.

I'm glad that I've found this community.

Hello all :)

My name is Kjetil and I am from Norway.
I have not been making any props yet, but I love watching people make props and showing them off, so I am ready to start learning. I am good with tools and are currently completing a CNC machine, so I am soon ready to start learning. I am hoping I can learn more how to design and tips on how to craft :)

I am looking forward to start building and sharing :)

Hi everyone,

I'm Hannah, from the UK and even after completing 4 years of uni and feeling fairly skilled in computers, I have never ventured onto a forum site until this second! I have recently accidentally got into producing and hand painting the 'My Adventure Book' from the Disney Pixar Film 'UP' (which should be attached if I've got this right) for an old friend after seeing some of my work on Facebook, several orders then seemed to follow with Valentines day soon approaching as they all wanted to get the adorable and well loved books for their other halves.
This brought a friend of my dad (who was of course raving about his daughters work as dads do) to recommend to this website, which admittedly I had never heard of, and so far cannot believe how many amazing things are being produced!!

I look forward to getting involved and seeing more :)

Howdy all I've been lurking the forums for quiet awhile. Figured Id throw out a post here to help with my lack of posting. I have yet to post any of my personal work but I plan to in the near future. I really enjoy these forums there's so much amazing talent.

Well I'll throw my intro in the ring... Been lurking for just a short while. Actually came across this site while looking for WH40K props! What an incredible community of artisans here!!! I look forward to learning new things from all of you and can't wait to start sharing pics of upcoming projects that you all have been inspiring me with! Thanks for opening up and sharing your knowledge!!!

Hello all!
I've visited this forum on and off over the past year but once I decided to get my hands on my own Spiderman costume, I just had to join! I'm a big fan of some of you guys and I hope to make some new friends here during my stay.
I work for a well known computer games company in Europe, so i'm a nerd by trade, as well as at home!

Hey everyone!

My name is Bob (from the Netherlands) and I've been getting more and more interested in prop building for the last couple of years and I've finally decided to try my hand at something simple(probably a pistol from the TF2 universe) and see how it goes. so here I am, I hope I learn lots from this forum and have a lot of fun while I'm at it. if you wanna know anything just ask!

Hello everyone,

Im Bobbie, from Australia, and have been lurking for a while. I found this site while looking for ways to make my iron man suit that my school has given me an opportunity to do (we have a project that we can choose whatever we want to do). And now i'm working on my first ever build.

Hi guys and gals,

thought I may as well sign up here seeing as I quite regularly lurk. I've been costuming for a little while now, but have only recently started wearing my costumes to conventions and taking on commission work.

looking forward to getting to know you guys better! There's some great talent here on these forums :)

Hello, my name is Clarence,

I live in North Eastern NY on the Canada border and Vermont line.

I use to be a Professional truck driver(18 Wheeler) for over 18 years drove over the road meaning I have seen all lower 48 States, and Canada.I no longer drive anymore as I am disabled now, I am a very big Star Wars fan along with many other types of SIFI movies.

I am mainly into collecting all sorts of different model kits. My most-recent purchase is the Randy Cooper Star Wars Star Destroyer Avenger kit, which is still in the process of being built for me...

Well that is pretty much it about me..

Thank You,
Clarence

Hello everyone,

Typical anime and fantasy fan here, I think. Ever since I've started playing Borderlands 2, I've gotten it into my head to attempt Angel, Zero (my current build with standard sneak suit), and Tiny Tina this year for my local convention and possibly GenCon. I'm very committed of the idea of creating vs. buying (although hey, I've just bought stuff for cosplay before, so no judge-y here), and really want to show my passion and am looking to level up (way up) from my previous costumes. My prop and mask research so far has brought me to this site, and I'm just pleased to be here to soak up all the knowledge that everyone has to offer as my experience is pretty minimal. Yay! Now I can do all the things!

Hi all,

My name is Ryan. I hail from Ontario, Canada. I've lurked the RPF for years but recently started making things that I wanted to share here. I mostly hit metal with hammers.

Thanks for all the help and ideas shared in good faith here. I love the community. If anyone wants to know more about armoring in metal, I'm happy to share what I know.

Hello everyone! I found out about this site through Adam Savage's Tested videos on YouTube. What a great place! I'm living in New Orleans and working as a newbie Set Decorator in the film industry here. Hearing Adam's lectures on his trials in the industry, and then browsing this site to see everyone's amazing work has really inspired me to learn everything I can about propmaking and costuming. It really helps me get through the "funemployment" phases (as we sometimes call them), and drives me to get back out there and find work. You all should be very proud of the efforts you put into your projects, and I would love to work with you and pick your brains. Anyway, see you out there! Thanks!

Bram here, I'm a fairly new member. I joined a few weeks ago, and have meant to do an introduction, but all the amazing build threads keep distracting me! I'm fairly new to prop making. I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so my first suit is a custom Mando for the Mando Mercs club. I'm also helping my friend with his iron man suit. We have a little page together called BD Props, and we post all of our WIP stuff there. I would love to make a Rocketeer costume, and a bunch of others (I have a big list that keeps growing). Here's my main project so far!

I understand the knee isn't 100% accurate, I'm basing them off of Boba, I don't want an exact copy (yet)
