Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone. I've been lurking around these forums for a few years looking at all of your great advice and ideas but have been too busy to really get into any projects. Well, schedule has lightened a bit and I'm starting a few projects. First off, Stargate ZPM. Also working on some wood replica Harry Potter wands. Hopefully followed by a working Stargate Zat, but that's probably way down the line.

Biggest interests include Stargate, Star Trek, and a little Harry Potter here and there (for the GF). I look forward to joining the community.

Thanks

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all.
I'm Steve, from the UK. Been signed up a few weeks now, but tend to forget I'm a member! Apologies.
Been making costumes, mainly for halloween, for a few years now. They're never built to last, but purely to wear to the pub... ergo they tend to get trashed by the end of the night.
They include Wolverine, Hellboy, Darkness (from Legend), Carol / Moisha (from Where The Wild Things Are) and Machete.
I've also been involved in the making of a Pinhead for a mate of mine. He made the costume, I made a cast of his head and produced the full head latex appliance for him.
Some pics are attached...
But recently decided I wanted to costume a bit more seriously. Currently working on a Captain Britain outfit (old 70's version) but I'm still not sure of the best ways of doing it, and cant afford to experiment too much. Budget is tight.

Hello.

This forum is really based on awesome things and creations.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello All,
I found this awesome forum after doing a google search for a cyber shade. I've only ever made one prop and it was a non-movie accurate proton pack for a Halloween costume a couple of years back. Although I don't have a lot of time to devote to prop making, I'm looking for some inspiration and small projects to keep the creative side of my brain active and sane.

Thanks for having me!
Dave in the US.

Hello Everyone!

My name is Courtney and I am so happy to have found this website. My sister and I are avid movie collectors. For Christmas one year, I made her a giant wall installation for her theatre room and attached different prop replicas that I had made. Ever since that Christmas, making prop replicas to add to the installation has become a hobby for me and my sister. I can't wait to look through the posts and get some new inspiration. Thanks for this forum!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site. I've been a collector for a few years now; my friends got me interested in the hobby and I've become addicted ever since (kinda like getting a tattoo, you just keep wanting more) I buy mainly from ebay but my friends told me this was the best site if I want the best pieces from the best artists. I hope to become a part of ya'lls community and make some friends along the way. Thanks for letting me join :)

Hey guys!

I was google searching for Killer Klown props and found the RPF! After an entire afternoon of stalking the boards and drooling over all of the wonderfully made props and replicas, I figured I better join the ranks. I look forward to making new friends and contributing as much as possible.

Later...T

Newb from Atlanta

Hey everyone!
I thought I would make the usual introduction thread. I've been looking at the rpf for quite a while and have finally decided to go ahed and register. First a few things about me....
I'm 33 years old, married and have 2 kids with #3 on the way! I love Star Wars, Star Trek, Firefly, Comics, and anyting else Sci Fi related. I'm a member of both the 501st Legion and the Rebel Legion. I have been active in the groups since 2010. I've recently finished attending Celebration VI in Orlando and Dragon*Con here in Atlanta!
As far as cosumtes go, I currently have a ANH StormTrooper. For those of you who are familiar with whitearmor.net and the different levels of screen accuracy, I have achieved Centurion for my TK. I also built a Republic Commando, but unfortunately had to sell it a few months ago. :cry
After the Con I have decied to branch out a bit and dive into some costumes outside of the SW world. More specifically I have my eyes on building a Rocketeer. Any thoughts on that would be appreciated! There may also be some others down the road; Firefly, Spaceballs, etc.
I'm glad to be a part of the rpf and look forward to the fun!

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey All,
My name is Cory. I used to built props and set pieces for a local set design company, but have recently moved on to other things (career-wise). A while ago I stumbled onto a video of Adam Savage building some of the hobby props I have fantasized about myself. It took me all of thirty minutes for this place to fill up my google searches, so I joined. Right now, with a new baby, my budget for projects is basically nothing, but I have a long wishlist and I hope to bootstrap my way up to some of the more expensive ones.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,

My name is Mike. I was registered here a few years ago and learned a lot on an ironman build I did at the time. No idea what my username and password were so I re-registered. Love this website. I am back again and looking to do some more building. looking forward to chatting with many of you.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,
This Forum is fantastic. I have only been making costumes and props for about 3 years.
Found out about this doing a search for my next project Judge Dredd. I am looking to step it up a notch or two.
Thank You for all the hard work and information.
Joe

Long-time lurker. Professional seamstress and prop-making amateur. My google searches are always leading me here because there's such a great wealth of information! You guys are awesome.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all,

I have been lurking on this site for almost two years now, thought I would finally introduce myself. I have been building props since I was about ten, starting with Lego models and cardboard boxes. The first prop I remember making was a Proton Pack out of a thin cardboard box with circles drawn on it and yarn for the wires. Thirty years later I finally got around to making a proper pack and have been working on various projects after that.

I have been coming here for help on various issues build both Iron Man and Halo Costumes, all still WIP. Right now I am working on a custom Robot Suit, not sure if that fits in with the full forum here but I would be willing to share if anyone wants me too.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello all!

From UK here, I signed up a week or so ago... There aren't enough hours in the day for me to read as much as I'd like to on here, but I'm blown away by everything so far! Never done any sculping in my life or building etc, I've messed around with a few foam prostetics and make up for Halloween but that's about it! Have made a few pieces out of Titanium here and there (have access to a big old Laser where I work :D)

Thinking of having a go at an IronMan suit made from foam and would really like a Batman suit...but can't afford it!

Anyways, amazing work everyone and I'm looking forward to spending more hours of my life reading, watching, planning etc etc :thumbsup

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone! I first found rpf many yrs ago while i was peicing together an sg-1 uniform for paintballing. I went to the Doctor Who convention last march in Wales, which was awesome, but this past weekend was my first Dragon Con. I honestly never thought I'd wanna dress up for a con, but i was converted. There of course was a total lack of Farscape stuff. One amazing scorpy, and i saw one John, but that was it. So i decided i would begin right away making my pk uniform for next yr. I have always been a collector of sci-fi and fantasy action figures and costume props, so now I'm extremely excited to start sewing and casting this stuff. I've done some latex work and sewing in past for halloween costumes, but this will be a whole new experience. I can't wait to learn more from all of you, and hopefully with patience and time I will become a competent costume maker. :rolleyes

Re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Good to finally be on the rpf, I have lurked here on and off for quite some time. It was inspiring but I never had enough motivation to create anything worthwhile. Once I was planning to go to fanexpo this past august I knew I needed a costume. So between finding information here and being redirected by the fantastic guns of Johnson Arms I realized there was this whole world of exiting prop building. I hope I can contribute back some of the knowledge that I have already received. Thank you rpf :$
