re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone,

My name is Josh, and I live out in Kansas. I found out about this site from a great group of Steampunk enthusiasts mainly based in texas, Airship Isabella.
They have been very informative, helpful, gracious, and kind. My interests in regards to joining this site are Steampunk, Halloween, and Movie-props. My goal in all of this is to either learn some processes to make what I have designed a reality or find someone with the skills who can. Not to mention see other people's fine, fine work. I remember someone putting up about 10 photos of a room in there house with walls and shelves filled to the brim with all manner of movie props. It was very inspiring if not impressive.

Hi everyone! My name is Justin and I came across this site via youtube comments. Ive wanted to do a realistic iron man costume since I seen the first movie, but the general costume industry as always leaves a lot to be desired. I started a little research and was about to start doing it the hard way by building molds and casting the parts until I came across this site and discovered Pep. All of a sudden my dream of building a realistic suit of hard armor became much easier! I have an extensive back ground in fabracation and am a CNC machinist by trade. Im also an airbrush artist in my spare time. Right now Im in the learning phase and hope to start my Ironman armor in the next couple weeks. Cant wait to get this project going!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi everyone I'm new. I like photography too much, I live in Spain and I'm interested in an Amazing Spider-Man new film suit.
Thanks for the help.

Another new member...

Hello users,
my name is François, from France... Who would have guessed.

I came here completely by chance, some months ago, because as a young-former military I had in mind to start playing paintball not to get rusted. And as an old child dream I just wanted to begin in style by wearing a DIY full Robocop-like armor... But yet I still have not fired a single shot paint, instead I keep on challenging my oldest daughter to coco magic circus on wii... She's only 3, and she already rocks !
So I mostly spent time reading tutorials and contemplating pics of your astonishing work, swearing some day i will do too.
And few weeks ago took place the carnival of her school. As she wanted to be a common and ordinary princess, and not Lara Croft nor Nina Williams, I had to do something to save the honor.
And decided that Tangled will be for three hours Iron Man's daughter. Ha !

Five days and five nights after, it was done, just in time in the short last fifteen minutes.

And since, every morning I still thank all of you for each of your advices, of your tutos, and for your whole work.

Next, once I'll be done, I'll share my work on unfolding and building this foam-pep Guyver :

Hi Folks,

My name is Dan, and I'm from the UK.

I've had a little experience with costume building, assembling a Stormtrooper costume about 6 years ago. Unfortunately, circumstances forced me to sell it.

However, I'm really interested in putting together a Jedi Knight costume, from the Star Wars The Old Republic MMO. Ideally, I want to create a set of Jedi Knight armour, so I've joined this forum for ideas and inspiration :)

Cheers,

Dan

Oh yeah. This thread. Ha.

Hello everyone. As my username states, I go by the name Dark Messiah, or DarkMessiahNF on many other sites if the other name is taken. I am new to prop replicas, and this is my first attempt at building anything. I run a website called "Doomed For Failure" that focuses on movie reviews, parodies, and funny articles, usually complaining about whatever is on our mind.

Once I get started on a costume, I'll probably post a build thread here, but I'll be doing more detailed posts on my site for our visitors as well (website traffic, those who don't know what the RPF even is... you know how it goes).

Look forward to learning new things here!

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey,

So, I went to my first Comiccon this weekend! It was amazing and I was really inspired to make my own costume for next year and hopefully Halloween this year.

I spent a few hours chatting with Dave Ross and he showed me some layouts and boards from the new Ironman that will be out sometime this year. So, I have decided to make an Ironman Mark III or Mark IV.

To my surprise it looks like a lot of others have too. Which is good for me as this is my first build.

I have spent the last two days reading about Pep files, fibreglassing, etc. I have the basic idea of how to do it my trouble is with the pep files them self. I have a few questions

1. Where can I get a PEP file for a mark IV. I found Robo's but for some reason I cannot get it to download.

2. How do I scale it to my size. I see it is for people around 5'9 and waist size 34. I am 6'1 and 240 lbs :confused

3. I tried rescaling with PEP but how much do I do it? and once I do all the cut outs come off the pages?

Any help and advice would be appreciated.

I think the thread you want is over here: http://www.therpf.com/f24/pepakura-question-thread-please-read-rules-first-87056/ You'll probably get better answers asking over there.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi there

My Names Simon, joined the forum last year. Up till now have been more of a lurker, but have finally decided to step forward and say hello.

Must say I'm extremely impressed with a lot of the projects people have posted about on here, particularly the Star Wars/Star Trek ones.

So far all I've done is modify a few Hasbro Star Wars weapons, but am looking at expenading my creativity.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

G'day all! My name's Luke, from Australia.
I've been wanting to build an Ironman suit for AGES but have never thought it possible until I finally found the foam costumes (which took unreasonably long time lol).

I"m really keen to continue learning from all of you and I will post my journey into making my first costume, the Ironman MKVII suit.

Thanks

p.s. special thanks to Stealth, you were the first person I saw doing all this. Thanks for all your help and information provided on youtube.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all, my name's Pete but most people call me Nightmare or Tatsu.

I do a lot of lurking and trawling of forums, picking up new techniques whereever I can. I've finally built up the confidence to start on a build of my own. Hopefully I'll have something to show you guys soon

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Goos morning, I am Scott

I hail from a little place known as Ottawa Ontario.

I have been a member of the SCA for years and always loved star wars so I though I would start looking into putting a kit together for it.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Thought I'd join the site. I'm a long time costumer who is finally getting into some of the better qulity prop making. I do mainly Star Wars, but recently I've been talking to friends about expanding for their costuming interests. Also considering trying to do some prototyping/moldmaking work in the future, as I know how to use 3d printing and considering it as a way to make bases.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Just thought it was time to join this site. Been a SPFX makeup artist for about 50 years (not full time job - sideline) but love props and scale model building - just haven't had too much time to do it. Retiring soon so thought it would be fun to attempt something. Coming soon perhaps - well maybe in a year or more. :) At any rate, just posting in to say HELLO and looking around taking it all in. Love to learn from those who know.
