re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello Everyone.

How i came to this forum?!
4 months ago i watched a young man who made an awesome iron man suit out of paper on you tube. it was a tutorial and he explained everything very well.
However i was so motivated, that i bought the next day glue and paper and all this stuff.... then i started building my first costume. ( It´s a War Machine suit):lol

Yeah and Stealth was the one, who inspired me on youtube.
Thank you Stealth:)

Since i´ve been a teenager, i am interested in Movie props, special make-up effects and all these things. And now i´m curious about what is expecting me here. Great works of the members so far.

Yep, i think that´s it.

Cheers
Mirko

Hey hey.

Just joined, obviously, haha. I've been a fan of Wolverine for years as well as Iron Man; more recently I've decided to start a small collection. I'm looking to either build (not sure what the entails) or buy the most up to date Iron Man helmet, the Mark VI ro VII, not sure if they are similar.

Other than that, just another fan of random cool stuff. Trained in MMA since 2000, been a Marine for almost 8 years, deployed 5 times (3 of which were combat) and now I'm starting a home business to fund my non-sense hobbies, haha. I also work on my car (E46 M3) and mod it a LOT... maybe too much.

Anyways, I'm here! Any help with direction for the Iron Man helmet build or purchase would be great.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hey everyone,

I just started making props about a year ago when I made my first full cosplay of Two-Face for the Cincinnati Comic Expo. Since then I have been trying to make Captain Americas Shield, a full Gambit costume, a Scarecrow from Arkham Asylum Costume, and finally a Riddler costume. As you can tell I have jumped in feet first and usually have no idea what or how to make what I do I just wing it :).
I love movies and comics and spend hours on here surfing how you all create props and try to take it from there. Looking forward to learning more and hearing your feed backs on my ideas/projects.

Hello, everyone

I just started to get into prop making, I am new to this an have been at this for a small period of time. I was introduced to the site after watching pixels to props and this site is perfect! Props I am interested in are those from video games or movies. I am currently building some daft punk helmets and a wave gun from the "call of duty:zombie." need help with making blueprints on inkscape, well I would like to hear feed back on anything that would help.

Hello!

I was turned on to this site by my neighbour who has an extensive background in making replica costumes. Right now I'm attempting to build a Man-at-Arms costume from He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Thought I'd log in to see if there were any tips and tricks I could make use of during it's construction.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

How's it going guys? Nick from New York. I found this site looking for Nike MAG's and fell in love with it. Some of the most talented people I've ever seen. The work is just incredible. I am trying to take in as much information possible to make some stuff for my own fledgling collection.

I have a question for the experienced makers, but any help will really do. When making a master model to mold and cast what do you guys use? I am trying to use air-dry clay to sculpt my model and the stuff seems hard to work with. Is it just a matter of practice and perfecting the art or is there a better way to go about this?

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,

I am a member for a few months now. My name is Matt, I live in North Wales, in the United Kingdom. I am amazed by the talent and creativity on this forum! I feel a very deep passion towards movies, and collecting props (which I don't really have the money to do :)) is a way to feel closer to my favourite ones. Also, building, creating prop and costume replicas is like lego for grownups :)

I have already received so much from this forum, I hope I can contribute soon.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello everyone,

I joined this site after seeing many of the awesome costume replicas that users here have made. I'm not the best at making costume replicas but what I am good at making is actual props and other objects. I started prop making for my short films almost five years ago and have really loved it and improved throughout the years. I hope to have a good overall experience, learn more and maybe even buy some of the costume replicas in the Junkyard in the future. :) Hopefully I can even learn a bit of costuming here!

Other things that characterize me is that I like to experiment and make some weird contraptions (robots, reprogramming stuff, etc.) and I also perform Street Magic. As I mentioned before I make short films and have A LOT of experience editing videos, with my last edited film being a twenty minute long film minus the bloopers. I also enjoy writing and reading, and I have written a couple of short stories, scripts for my short films and even started a novel. That's basically the overview of who I am. Hope to enjoy my stay here in these awesome looking forums! :D

Hello, All. Been a lurker here for a while, decided to finally join the community and see if I can contribute anything. Very impressed with the talented people on this board, and I look forward to becoming part of the family. I'll say this board and the 405th sure help my boring days at work pass by faster.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I am Brutus... otherwise known as Das Brutus. Don't let the "Das" fool you... I'm Scottish, not German.

I've been propping now for about a year. Having started on the 405th building my Spartan suit from paper to mold to casting it up out of Flex Foam-it and plastic.

Costumes:

Halo:
Recon / ODST / Reach Spartan
ODST

Star Wars:
Biker Scout (as of yet unfinished)
Manalorian Shadow Trooper
Royal Commando (as of yet unfinished)

Future Builds:
Predator
Gears of War
WarHammer 40k Space Marine
Cletus, the NFL Robot

Being a larger built person, I try to choose costumes that will not look to "chub-chub" when worn, so my options are limited since I seem to always look like a football player in armor.

Well, thats me... 'nuff said
soaringhammerrecon.jpg

Hey man, you need those hero proportions to pull of the Spartan/Space Marine stuff. I wish I could fill out armor like that. I'm stuck doing the little stuff. Spiderman, ODST, I've been wanting a Commander Shepard suit but I cannot for the life of me find any peps, or the Cerberus armor.

Sorry, I had to say what's up to the other Dallas guy lol, so that out of the way, hey guys! My name is Andrew, and like my buddy Brutus I hale from the Big D. And like Brutus, I came over here from the 405th. I've been costuming for several years now, but mostly soft stuff, i.e. leather armor, pirate attire, and lycra/spandex. Only in the past year-two years did I start looking at the pep stuff, and this awesome new world of hard armor opened up to me.

As for builds completed to date, well I'm an astounding pep-er, but I haven't gotten much further than that. When I start resin-ing and bondo-ing, I get gun shy, so I haven't really taken the next step. I'm hoping to get through a complete helmet build, the thing I want to do most is the paint job and it's the very last step :/ that's where I really shine.

Currently I'm pep-ing a collection of helmets: Mass Effect 3 N7, Halo Reach Grenadier, I'm about to start an Ironman probably Mk3, and I have an ODST helmet rondo-ed, but I think my mix was off because it's tacky to the touch, so that may be scrapped. Anyway, I look forward to this community helping me out with my future builds!

Hi,

My name is Andy and I came across this forum a short while ago whilst looking for details on various Doctor Who props.
I like a lot of science fiction, but it's Doctor Who props I am mainly interested in.

I am glad to be a member of this online community.
