re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Greetings!

I'm Doron, and I've been a huge Sci-Fi fan since way back, However, I didn't get involved in props, costumes and collecting until RDM's BSG. I've met many here in other venues, I'm sure (Propworx, TCF, Dragon*Con), but am trying to branch out and learn more about costuming and prop making.

I have many items from the BSG auctions, some from the SG auctions, and even a few items from LOST.

I just attended the North Texas Prop Party, and thought I best create an account here.

I've also developed an interest in SteamPunk, and am looking to learning techniques for prop and costume construction.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hi all,
My name is Adam and at my day job I'm and HVLP painter for a small art fabrication company based in Massachusetts. On my free time I have a pretty wide assortment of different hobbies, two of which LARPing and prop building fit together perfectly. In the larp community there is a HUGE and (massively undersupplied) need for quality costuming and props. I've started up a blog recently in which I'll focus on addressing some of these needs.

(Thee Ubiquitous_Atom)

Most of my past work has been based in fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Although recently I've been looking more so in the direction of castable resins, durable plastic sheeting, open cell foam and other ways to cut out weight for wearable props and costume elements. The main reason I joined this forum is to learn different prop building techniques. I'd love to branch out into makeup gore effects and recreating gore with latex. I'd also like to give the knowledge I have (HVLP spray techniques, extensive primer & paint knowledge, functional knowledge of industrial marine-grade materials) back to the community here.

And now because this is starting to get boring I'll toss you a few photos of my past projects.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

so im a sophmore at saic and im also a transfer there (2nd sem here) i thought i wanted to do illustration and then i found out about sculpture, designed objects, industrial design, and special effects. and i am a sponge for knowledge, i love learning the process to make things. so i figured this would be a great place to start. im just now getting into wireing stuff up and programing and have been welding for the past half year, im ok with welds getting better though

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

I'm a videographer/FX artist in Dallas, that is fascinated with prop making. I've never really done a prop before, but I like reading about it, and I have some things I'd like to try out.

Newbie here; my talent is not prop making, so looking more to buy works than contribute. That said, i do make 'mini-props' for Fallout.

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

So glad to be a part of this site! I went to school for prop/make up but had to leave so I haven't finished yet :( This site is amazing, looking at all the different stuff people make here has helped me learn a lot more then some of the things I learned at school.

Hello -
My name is Marc and I discovered this forum by virtue of other science fiction modeling forums. I am a model kit assembler and have been for many years. I have not done much scratch building, but I am open to trying my hand at it. I must say the threads here are refreshing compared to some of the other modeling boards I have been on. From what I have read so far, there is a genuine desire to share techniques and information. There is quality discussion regarding scale modeling topics. There also seems to be more mutual respect among members here. I look forward to learning more and sharing what I know with others here.

Hello, I'm Jad, and glad to be here! I've been meaning to join this board for a long time, and I've finally taken the plunge because of a project I'm going to tackle. I've got a plan to make a Holochess table. It may not be as spectacular as Philip Wise's, but it'll be a good chance for me to learn how to use a CNC and to broaden my CAD skills.

I also have a blog about Star Wars Micro Machines (link in my signature) and I've traveled to many original filming locations for Star Wars and other movies. Just google "Raiders of the Lost R2" to read an article that was in Harper's Magazine about one of my trips!

Hi, my name is Phil from Wellington, New Zealand. I'm not talented like most of the people on this forum. I'm a Star Wars fan & have put together a Clone Commander Neyo costume.
I'm on here to pick up hints & tips in the construction of soft parts of some other Star Wars costumes that I would like to collect.

Hello all,
My name's Dawn - long-time lurker-nee-browser and admirer of the site, but with my intentions to start work on a ROTS Anakin mechanical arm for my costume, for the SW Blu-Ray release this September, well....I just counted it as good and opportune time as any to finally join in 'ere and get involved. :) I have a plethora of costumes, myself - the Anakin ROTS is pride and joy, along with my Illyria from "Angel", and that's on top of the other SW, HP and Joss-verse ones I either already have or which I'm still planning for with greatest anticipation.... It just never ends, and I love it all the more for that. :D
Mighty glad to be here, though, part and parcel! :D

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello,
I'm new to this site. I found out about this site while on TCSS. I just completed my first DL-44 blaster prop. When and if a picture can be posted (not so good with that stuff) I would show it off.
But for now just here to say hi. Hi!
cheers

re: ** New Members: Please Introduce Yourselves Here! **

Hello, I love movies and the Iconic props they bring us. I have a moderate collection of movie swords and weapons. A few I have had to make myself. but nothing to terribly hard. I am great with ideas but poor in execution. I hope to offer my ideas here and to perhaps get a few suggestions on how to improve my skills. Thanks allot for having this forum and I look forward to many a fun project.
