New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

The deal on the logo is/has been a tie to the story.

The first story had dalek 'eggs' in it, this one had wooden planks. I forget what the dinosaur episode had (scaly skin?).

Wow, you're not kidding! That said I'd rather have a Troughton back in the TARDIS...

I was actually just corresponding with someone from Big Finish the other day about if they had considered doing a 2nd Doctor audio series with David Troughton. They told me that David was a bit reticent when it was suggested to him a while back, though he seems to have come around to the idea as he took on the role in a recent Tom Baker audio for the BBC.

I'd love to see David on screen playing his father's role for the 50th anniversary. It would be great to see Smith playing against the Doctor who inspired his version.

I rewatched that part and the Master says between the 12th and final regeneration. I'm hoping that we can take some liberty and say that his final regeneration is past 13.

I was thinking about this.

The master says that the valeyard is "somewhere between the Doctor's 12 and final incarnation".

After Smith, the next Doctor will be the 12th incarnation of the Doctor. But, if you take the meta-crisis Doctor as a kind of incarnation of the Doctor. You could reasonably argue that when the doctor regenerates the next time, he will be "somewhere between" his 12th and final incarnation.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody recall any "memory" lines in "Dinosaurs" or "Mercy"?

In "Asylum of the Daleks", Oswin tells the Doctor to "Remember Me". At the beginning of the episode, the Doctor tells Amy she needs to get the Daleks to "Remember who she was" (or something to that effect).

I didn't think to listen for it. Perhaps it's a clue?

Personally, I'm glad they're winding up the Pond thing mid-series. They could easily have drawn it out for an end-of season climax.

My guess is that they are doing it so they can get into pre-production for "The Pond Life" series. They have to put something out since Torchwood is off the map and, very sadly, any further episodes of The Sarah Jane Adventures are impossible.

In a Universe of this size anything is possible. They did those 5 one minute webisodes to tease the new season, maybe it was also a test to see if people were interested in the Ponds alone?

Power to them if that's what they're doing but I highly doubt it. The Ponds have outstayed their welcome on DW and the best you could hope for in a spin off is a kids show like Sarah Jane Chronicles.

Maybe the Ponds will be dragged into a new incarnation of Torchwood by its surviving members?

I dunno. The way things have been hinted it seems like they're getting tired of the adventure life. They're setting it up to be a choice between normal life and Doctor life.
