New Doctor Who Series Discussion *Spoilers*

But the Doctor has a time machine, couldn't he just cruse back and pick them up or visit :confused. If you have a Tardis that does not seem to be a real major roadblock.

Ok, pretend I just sent someone back in time and you have a Time Machine.

In order to get them, you have to know where I sent them or have some clue. If it's a purely random location - good luck. Especially if it could be on another planet as well.

Yeah, but he also has just about all eternity to figure out where/when they were sent and then can arrive from the Pond's perspective seconds after they arrived. Let's just face it, it's a 'wibbly wobbly timey whimey' explanation why he wouldn't be able to go back and move on. The actors want to leave, so their characters have to be written out somehow.

First time i've ever ranted about something but this one really annoyed me.

The ages old enmity between the Doctor and the Daleks has been one of the defining aspects of the title character. It's oft been implied that it goes beyond just hatred and that for the Daleks, their fear of the Doctor could even be said to be buried in their genetic code.

Then AotD came along.

"WE MUST DESTROY THE DOC-TOR!! WE MUST EXTERMINATE THE ON-COM-ING STOOOORM!! WE MUST...*Oswain flips switch*...OOOOH, i WONDER WHAT IS ON THE TV........"

I don't know why it got to me but it felt very throw away, it felt to me like it cheapened the almost 50 years of storyline that preceded it. Maybe i'm alone on this but I was not a fan of that particular plot point.

Yeah, I felt it took away from the series to do that.

To one extent I agree, there's 50 years of history there. However RTD & Moffatt have exploited it to the point that is was starting to get out of hand. A reboot to the "First Doctor" mentality is probably the least offensive way they could get out of that hole.

The biggest problem being that the Doctor still knows them, they just don't know him. So he should still have all his anger and hatred.

If they play it out right it could be great. REALLY great. He's the hateful attacker and they're all like "WTF?"

But they probably won't... :(

It's interesting that this whole "Doctor Who?" arc is being played up seeing as it's a mystery that will never be solved.

You want the overall story arc to have some emotional impact on the Doctor so I wonder how they'll acheive that cosidering the question and status quo will most likely still exist after this particular arc.

As much as I don't like her maybe the finale has him telling his name to River? Therefore the question is answered but we don't hear it.

I'm wondering if the question is meant to address who he was before he became the Doctor or who he's become as the Doctor or who he really is behind the reputation of the Doctor.
